Brooke was the one that needed shoulder surgery, not Summer. Summer didn't stay with Brooke because Brooke had no interest in going to the Olympics at the time of their spit. Yes. Brooke. Typo. It’s kinda funny how no one has any interest going to the Olympics until the greatest women’s player of all time comes calling. Nicole didn’t either. As much success as Kerri & Brooke are having, it’s not enough. The last thing they needed to do was lose in the quarters last tourney. I don’t think Kerri makes a move from Brooke but she has to figure out how to get in these main draws. IF she is gonna make a move, right now is the time.

From her Sandcast interview Brooke was also dealing with a knee injury and was contemplating retirement. Seems like Kerri’s call has rejuvenated her. And the way they’ve been playing, that may have worked out for the best, assuming they stay healthy.

Brooke was just an Olympian, and was well on the way to be in contention with Summer before the injury.

I think they let Jinjiang and Ostrava play out and see where they stand in a couple weeks. You’re right in that they’re running out of time to make a switch. But what happens to their World Champs spot if they split?

Other than maybe Smith/Stoklos I cant think of any team whose strengths complemented each other so beautifully. Shame Brooke got hurt, I doubt they could have won anything but watching them frustrate bigger, faster, sometimes more skilled teams was a lot of fun

Any points in Jinjiang will be used for seeding in World Champs and Gstaad and beyond.
Ostrava is already determined and the list will be used this week for the seeding of Warsaw, which is right before World Champs.

I said “I understand why summer left her”. I just think them 2 are better than Sara summer.
I also think Brooke will play better with anyone one who hand sets her because at this level and size her window is probably smaller than most to be as affective.

KW/BS so close to jumping over a bunch of USA (present and non present) in the entry list... I know its luck of the draw when it comes to brackets but this team has only been together for 7 months... and the improvement is so stellar... I'd love to see Alix/April and KW/BS in Tokyo. It'll be interesting to see how Summer and Sara do this week as well, someone had mentioned in a previous board about the potential ceiling of this team might have been met... I think it has to do with A. training differences... and B. athletic ability... Sara destroys Summer at both... and Sara's fire is way higher than Summers... I wonder if that'll come into play down the road... Not sure what you mean by training differences. Seems like they do train together based on their instagrams. Or maybe you have some inside information? i think their individual training is very different ... and their level of commitment is as well... i've heard from a couple of people on the beach that Summers work ethic is no where near elite.

Well that’s a no brainer. If the greatest women’s beach volleyball player calls you to play with them you would have to think about it lol

Most of their strength and conditioning work is done together. Any down time Summer takes is usually related to managing her back issues.

I have no personal knowledge of her work ethic, but about four years ago I heard the same thing, and the person who told me this has no agenda but was frustrated that such potential was being wasted because of it. Maybe its different now, or maybe people mistake her easy going nature for lack of fire. Don't know.

Have you ever heard the saying : you cannot judge a book by its cover?
Or read the book , the millionaire next door ?
In the past years Summer didn’t have a full time trainer, weightlifting partner and multiple coaches providing full time support.
She has embraced the opportunities at an elite level and regularity adds her own efforts outside of team workouts.
She has ice water in her veins and only needs to refine the elite mental focus it will take in crunch time to close out the best teams, imho.
What other teams have held A/A to 21-12 sets, only to hit 4 serves out and lose 15-13 or worse in the 3rd?
All these top 10 teams are close and down the stretch you must be a closer like April has been.
