They also need to remember coconut oil and not sunblock. Just to make sure they get a nice toasty red color.

Why is it starting so late? 8 is late even in local time, but considering the viewing audience why not 5 or 6? Weird.

poll results so far!!!!
Hawaii 25, LB 9 factoring in the poll adjustment for Hawaii bias on Volleytalk: Haw 1, LB 7
just a reminder of the poll from last Saturday Hawaii 16, LB 6
and a reminder of the poll from last Friday Hawaii 17, LB 6
plus the current Vegas odds, per Caeser's Sports Book, via Jimmy 'the Bumps' Mizuno
Haw 120, LB 90 (to win 100)
over/under is 203
Tri-fecta (LB obviously is only possible now):
LB 4:1

Hawaii getting ready for the match - exorcism chants - seems apporpriate I guess That's from their senior night (can see the crowd in the background all wearing white, and the redshirt kiddos are dressed.) Music and native chants are big in Hawaiian culture, it is very appropriate.

Mostly because this is technically not even a Hawaii home game. LB will actually be the home team tonight, I would assume. This is a Big West tournament - I would have thought to start it at 6 actually, maybe 7 latest, which makes more sense to me for a conference with 8 members in Calif. but whatever! actually I would think likewise the Big West would try to encourage Calif game times with Hawaii (basketball/Volleyball) during the regular season to be at 8:00 pm vs. 7 pm to allow for Hawaii viewer convenience.

We are hosting the tournament. 7pm is preferable but 8pm is not inconvenient for us. They are opening the arena at 630pm. So we are all good here on our end. Last nights 2nd match started at 8pm with zero problems.

I think last year at UCLA it started at 6:00 pm. it doesn't matter to me that much - but you'd think the Big West would want better live exposure in Calif as well?

The later start may improve ratings if it means less live competition from other sports such as NBA finals and baseball. I'd guess the marketing crews probably analyzed the snot out of it trying to maximize capture of eyeballs and dollars.

I am sure they are probably good at analyzing snot though

The reason for the time is to accommodate our fans. Again, I'd prefer 7pm but 8pm it is. Btw, we have never started a match at 6pm. So that wasnt happening.

The volleyball championships today are set up to start at or around the end of the prior championship match. EIVA first, then MIVA, then MPSF, then Big West. Just like the women's tournament was.
