If a server can hit an opposing assistant coach lurking too close to the court, that coach must sit their ass down for the rest of the match and the serving team is awarded five points.

In all seriousness - If you're going to allow serves that hit the net and go over count, then the receiving team should also be allowed to block serves.

Trying to remember the old rule. If the ball touched the net it was a fault resulting in a do over, but if it happened twice in a row then the other team got to serve instead?
They put the net in play on serves when they switched to rally scoring, iirc.

I like this idea of combining Volleyball with Dodgeball.

A small, yipping, ankle biting dog should be released on the court during fifth sets; there's not enough randomness now. The up official should be equipped with a paint gun to punish double contacts. Players touching the net should be required to remove one article of clothing. Or alternately, the net could be patrolled by giant spiders.

A top spin jump serve is allowed second attempt on a missed serve; a standing serve or a jump float are not.

I like something equivalent to basketballās three point shot. 2 points for an ace but also two points for the other team for a service error.

Because the serve/pass game just isn't an important enough part of volleyball under the current rules? I just like the idea of having a play where you can get more than one point at a time. Football has the two point conversion. Basketball has the three point shot. Baseball you score more than one run at a time with an extra base hit. You down by four....two straight aces will tie it up. Just add to the excitement.
