Putting this in a new thread as they are thankfully graduating a ton of players that were decent but never able to rise above being better than average. Koubi, Karl, Dante, David, just never special enough to really do damage. This reset needs to be even more thorough with Stadick sitting more, he's just so unathletic, if he weren't 7 feet tall, he wouldn't be playing.

UCI the last two years was interesting - at times they looked like a giant killer - just so inconsistent their hitting % this year wasn't shabby maybe it was a simple case of Kniffen simply getting the most out of bunch of inconsistent players - and when he couldn't their flaws were exposed big-time Stadick was 1st team AA last year, so that's really crazy - did he regress? chemistry issue with the team. at the top D1 level, if teams have trouble serve-receive - doesn't matter how much size or good pins are, it's tough to win consistently

Future looks good for UCI. Joel is only a sophomore, and there's still Nsakanda who might be the best leaper in the league, good freshmen in Bowles and Garcia, good incoming recruits in Tangutur, BabyBarsemian and Gillis. They're a physical squad

Look at Karl, too weak mentally, if he had warrior's mentality, could have been killer. Doesn't carry himself like Sneidy, kid who wants to rip your head off, UCI needs far more of that.

Oh that's right, it's easier to attack the messenger than the actual message.

Important to also note that they have two important commits already from 2020, they have a lib whose name is escaping me at the moment and Francesco Sani who imo will lead UCI in the future years.

Next year will be special for UCI as the Big West tournament will be held there. I call it they will be in top 2.

What hurt UCI the most this year was they only had two outsides on the roster. And one got hurt. They had no eligible oh to come in and play. I don’t know how that happened. Grant Friedman would have been a senior this year and could have played outside but he did not come back to play. I am surprised they did not get someone last year to play oh from a jc.
In the middle of the season they started playing a true freshman at setter. Was Dante hurt? Sean Farmer probably would have played that role as a redshirt freshman but he did not come back this year.
So when you have only two oh and one gets hurt, you are bound to lose some matches. I don’t know why they didn’t try Parker at oh. He was pretty steady at libero and maybe they didn’t want too many moving pieces but joel’s Injury pretty much wrecked them.
Currently they have only one setter on the roster for next season and I haven't seen them sign anyone for next year. Will they get a jc player or international setter come in?

Completely agree here dantes setting was avg at best along with this block and serve, very replaceable player but I'm not sure if they have another setter coming in or they might be in deep shot. Kobi was ok,his defense got so much better.
