Can either Nsakanda or Bowles play on the left?

Neither of them are that comfortable on the OH side but they won’t get the sets they need if they don’t have a setter. It’s going to be a big problem next year.

Know for a fact that Kniffin recently had an opportunity to recruit a top setter 2019 and passed. Guess he has confidence in Garcia. Wasn’t impressed with Chakravorti at all.

With the exit of Freshman setter Sam Farmer the previous year, who undoubtably would have gone in at times for Chakravorti, they needed a strong replacement. The position is just too important. Especially to a top 5 D1 team.

This may turn out to be a big mistake. But maybe the player is a good setter but would not fit with the system UCI plans to play. They are gambling with the setter position going with a true sophomore and a player who has mostly played middle and who has not really played much in a game situation in two years.

Moved back to Chicago. Had enough of Volleyball. Should go out for Loyola, if he was good enough for UCI, should be good enough for them.

UCI is an enigma, They’re able to bring in Stadick, Schneidmiller, Bowles... all top picks in their recruiting class and supplementing with other fab 50 recruits yet still can’t compete with LB and Hawaii. Maybe it’s how they evaluate talent, maybe too much focus on recruiting height (form over substance),maybe they can’t develop their talent. Maybe it’s all of the above. Hawaii has a short setter, a short OH2, an undersized MH all were not heavily recruited, but they are fiercely competitive, hungry to learn, got good work ethic, and are basically athletic. Our OH2 is a walk on but that will change next year Agreed, I know they passed on the Loyola/Chicago setter a couple years ago and I think he has proved himself as a worthy starter the last couple years. And I have heard they also passed on a couple other undersized guys that are starting elsewhere.
