Not upset about the players transferring out IF Hall seals the deal on the players he is going after it would be a big roster improvement and adding Hellvig/Iosia possibly other indoor players helps.

After hearing the announcement of Choy, I really hope that she considers playing beach. If the indoor team plays in a 6-2 this upcoming season, I don't know if it is just me, but I would love to see a Iosia/Choy pairing at either the 4's or 5's with Iosia as the primary blocker and Choy as the primary defender.

Found this gem for you guys. Wasn't sure where to post this (2019-2020). Highlights for the season and a way for other Uni. BVB coaches to see her skill set.
I know these highlight videos are supposed to make someone look good but it looks like she definitely could have been starting.

I feel bad for Misraje. She initially came to UH for indoor during RAMS's inaugural season. But due to injury (it was alleged on VT), she decided to join the beach team instead. Two years later, no progress re. playing time. Now, she's allegedly about to leave. Looks like she's joining Forbes at FIU. Hopefully they both get playing time there.

Not to imply anything about any specific players but I know for a fact that a student athlete's playing time can be affected by their etiquette, grades, and over-all conduct. It doesn't matter how good you an athlete is, but they don't show up to practice on time, they struggle to keep their grades up, or exhibit unsportsmanlike behavior on/off the court, the coaches can use those to discipline you.
This is true to Hall and Wade's coaching style. Wade sat out Scott Hartley for almost two years because he was usually late to practice and was always out partying (it was implied through his senior night interview). Perhaps Hall got this from Wade, whom he served as an assistant to the men's program from 2011 to 2014 (?).
I honestly think that the bench this year are a bunch of talented players, and while we have our own speculations about how and why are they not seeing play time, we still do not have any direct sources to tell us what happens during practice and off the court.

I'm guessing there will probably be a few more incoming players based on what Koa said, and since all these players have left the program. Think that if a few other indoor players crossover (Choy, Sibley, etc.) may help as well.

A lot of the incoming freshmen will be counted on to male the flights. I see Maidment, Hellvig and maybe even Hardisty/Hannemann being major contributors next season Sato is somebody with big time volleyball knowledge and could also figure into the flights.
Sad that Paige have decided to leave but I think we will have enough bodies to make up for the transfer outs. Those coming in seem to have more polished resumes.

I think Huddleston may also contribute over Hardisty/Hannemann based on some of her play.

I know I will get some flack for saying it but I've heard that Stevens may have influenced the others. She was not happy that she wasn't t getting playing time and felt she deserved to be in the top flights. Dreeuws, Banz, Stevens are all good friends. Dreeuws was also not happy about being left out of the NCAA tournament. Jenna, I am sad to say is shopping around. I don't know if she has made it official, but I have to guess that she basically has with her highlight video. The reality, in my opinion, is that all these players could have helped the program next year, but they aren't necessarily stand-outs and they aren't irreplaceable. Even Dreeuws is not necessarily a starter on other top teams and maybe (depending on what the roster ends up to be), wouldn't even be guaranteed playing time next year. I am a little sad that Banz is likely gone. I do hope they all find the success they are looking for elsewhere. Not specifically to any of the transferring players (as I don't know all their specific reasons) but, in general, players need to realize that not everyone can be starters in their first year (or two). Sometimes, it really does depend on the mix of athletes on the roster, ratio of blockers to defenders, amount of seniors, the chemistry of the pairs etc. It would be great if everyone got a shot to be a starter, but sometimes it just isn't going to happen and some athletes are better suited to other program (Ari Homayun spent a good portion of her UH career at the 4 and 5 flights and then ended up at the 2 and 3 position this year). I think players see true freshman players like Monkhouse, Van Winkle, Slater and Hallgren making an impact and they think that is the norm. Too many players think that they should be playing and they aren't willing to wait a year or two until they've earned a starting position; they want it now. I know some of the beach only volleyball players are not always happy with the indoor transfer players taking "their" positions. I think there is sometimes a sense that, "I have better beach IQ, I know the game better, I am a better beach player" attitude prevails and it is tough when players like Emily, Julia, Nicki, Noreen, etc. get playing time over some of the beach only players. I remember when Maglio was first partnered with Katie there was a couple of players on the roster that year who didn't think Maglio deserved to be there (at the number one position - though Katie did). I think the same thing was true with Julia for a few players (initially).
I think it is going to be a continuing trend (and not just at UH) where players are going to want to transfer more if they aren't getting playing time. The new transfer rules does favor the athlete in this respect. It's the way of the world to want what you want now. Unfortunately though, some players are going to get a reality check if they don't work hard enough to earn their positions. It probably does help to really foster a culture that everyone is part of the team no matter where they are in the line-up, but this is easier said than done sometimes.

As I said before, I don’t mind if players leave for legitimate team- or sports-related reasons like playing time, displeasure with coaches, hate teammates, and injury. However, it would break my heart if they left because they didn’t like the school, the State of Hawaii, or its people and culture.
