We need to be, Im really nervous about Thelle and his ability to locate the ball consistently He will prove you wrong. Well I hope you have an actual reason for claiming that because I was very underwhelmed watching 3 different games of his... Coaches don’t offer to multiple players in a position where they have 100% confidence in who is there currently. I want Thelle to do well and improve from what I saw in the off season matches

I want Thelle to do well and improve from what I saw in the off season matches First road trip as a starter and the team won all matches and lost only two sets with Thelle setting, insinuating he could be the team’s downfal is overdramatic, even J worsley had matches where his location was a bit off last season and definitely his sophomore season. The two new setter recruits will most likely be redshirting the 2021 season with the hope one of them will be ready to step in (seamlessly) as the starter as a redshirt sophomore. I doubt the coaches over recruited that position because they are worried about the setting.

I think it's unfair to compare Joe Worsley from his junior/senior seasons to Jakob Thelle from his Fall exhibition matches from his as-yet-to-begin sophomore season. LOL!

You are misunderstanding where I am coming from. I WANT to eat my words and see Thelle have a monster season. I want hi tempo, location, body language, and decision making to improve which Im sure it will in the next month and a half plus. I was just underwhelmed watching every live game they had in CA. His position is too important to not be scrutinized, especially with what this team is capable of and ESPECIALLY since the setting depth isn’t necessarily there this year. I think where I’m coming from is more Thelle’s lack of in game experience since he set the least out of all the training setters on the team last year(Sheward trained as a backup Libero). Im hoping it’s all just the newness of running the offense but I just hope when season hits, he looks a lot more like a competitor than he did in California.ñ, especially against The Beach.

Coaches don’t offer to multiple players in a position where they have 100% confidence in who is there currently. Wade does. Look at the ridiculous pin depth he had with SVT, Rosie, Parapunov, Matuatia, Rattray, etc. two years ago. Hawaii almost always has talent on the bench in at least one or two positions a season. To each his own but I would not equate pin depth and setter depth as being that similar at All. But that’s just my opinion.

Bummers on UH missing out on Torwie and Lawrence but there are many very good volleyball players out there and Wade and Co need to go find them. Need our former players to help us out and try and steer their countries top prospects to Hawaii.
Hendrik Mol got us Jakob Thelle and Brett Rosenmeier gave the UH coaches the heads up on Filip Humler. Hope guys like SVT and Rado will help us out in the future.
BTW...is Torwie’s teammate on the Germany U19 Filip John in play? We could go after him.

Here’s hoping that he just wants 2 setters that are willing to redshirt or not see the court in any significant capacity until their 3rd year on campus. Reiterating, I want Thelle to be good and get better. Probably more pressure on him than any other setter in the country.

Quality pin hitter depth is an ideal situation considering what the Wahine had to endure this season with Jolie's and Brooke's injuries. Our men have Dimi, Chaz and James as primary backups. You look at the 49ers who have stocked their pin depth as well... albeit mostly unproven in D1. Their 2020 and 2021 recruit classes are among the best in D1 with OH signees like Godbold (2020), Rodriguez (2020) and now Lawrence (2021) and the big German. They're well armed for another future run at the title and that's only the pin hitters, their roster is stocked with Fab 50 middles, liberos and setters. Stanford and Lewis are also going to give Hawaii problems this season. In my biased opinion, I still consider Hawaii the front runner though. As our new starting setter, lots of eyes will be on Thelle to run this juggernaut offense but I believe he is up to the challenge.

If wade was worried about the setter pisition he would have brought in someone for THIS season.

In the first pic, Dimi's ankle is taped up, I hope it's not too serious.

Not sure if they showed it during the broadcast of today’s Wahine match, but Dimi was walking on crutches.

The crowd was in awe when Galloway got up and was hitting bombs. Gui as well but too bad he couldn't showoff as well. This class might severely be underrated when its all said and done.
