So the elephant in the room is will the Iranian delegation and team receive Visa clearance in July if things escalate in the Gulf region.
The Iranians are really going for it and playing very well at 7-1.
I sure hope to see them in Chicago.
A semi or 1/4 match up with Poland and Kurek would be awesome. 😎

Canada will have a tough road to advance to top 6 with the USA, France, Brazil and Italy and and upstart Japan remaining on the schedule.

It was also implied that if there is difficulty with the Iranian team getting visas that the FIVB could pull the next two finals from the USA.

He won't play VNL.

Visas are not just a function of one country's border policy, but also a function of the government of the country seeking admittance. Why should the US national team be harmed by tensions escalated by what are obviously adversarial leaders of a foreign government already in tension with the UN and NATO?

An Iranian fan could say this exact same thing: "Why should the Iranian national team be harmed by tensions escalated by what are obviously an adversarial leader of a foreign government already in tension with the UN and NATO " why should the FIVB be harmed? I am sure the US NT will be allowed to play where ever it is relocated. I get that the privilege of hosting is a huge benefit and will hurt if lost but the FIVB has to protect it's own interests and losing a top team because of politics is bad business. How would you feel if the US NT was excluded entry to a country hosting? US government isn't exactly winning popularity contests these days.

The US isn't winning in popularity, but it has the benefit of democratic institutions and relationships with allies in the international community that make up the vast majority of the FIVB Nations, including the country that houses it. The abuses of the Iranian government are easy to track from cause to consequences, one of which is getting its athletes excluded from competitions they would otherwise be in. This is caused, in part, by the nature of their institutions. This whataboutism is ridiculous on its face.

I am not equating the US and Iran, obviously Iran has been digging itself into a hole much longer and deeper than the US but it takes 2 to tango and the FIVB has business decisions to make. The concern that the the US national team is being harmed and the US government is 100% not culpable isn't without bias. If a significant amount of the UN nations decide to not allow the Iran VB team in, then the FIVB might have to take a stand. Isn't there a history of allowing sports teams of our "enemies" into the country to foster understanding, peacemaking and sportsmanship?
If the US government wants to make a stand and the FIVB decides to relocate next years events, I don't see it as the FIVB's fault. I would support it selfishly because I want to see Iran play the tournament, and I am an American, so I expect the rest of the world feels even stronger about that.

Hard to know since they have guys traveling with the team and not playing, but looks like Jendryk is back this week. In for Stahl, maybe??
The warm up on the USA Volleyball Insta story today looked like DeFalco, Jendryk, Russell, Jaeschke, Smith, Christenson, Tuileta, Holt, Patch, Sander, Shoji, Averill. I think! Probably missed a few (like Anderson and E Shoji!)
