swinging hard is how you get roofed by anders. his dives with his arms are too big and too late to see and react to. you have to play vs christian or you will lose. evandro was setting more consistently this tournament, though he did set bruno far too tight on perfect passes a handful of times. bruno is better if you error off with his sets

“We had a really good first set,” Anders Mol commented. “We had a really good plan. I got to block Bruno a couple of times and felt like I stopped his rhythm a little bit, but then they changed something in the second set. Evandro served like crazy. Bruno also served really well. They did the same in the tiebreak. I think they played a really good game and I’m happy for Brazil for finally having a team back in the number one spot. It’s really important for the sport.”
“We are super satisfied. Right now, we are not so happy, but tomorrow we have to be happy. Silver is good,” Christian Sorum added.

Wow. Norway was down 11-14 in the third set and Anders was already thinking about the bronze medal match. Somehow they saved 3 match points and eventually won 23-21 in Set 3.

Evandro's serve made the difference today. And remember, the Russians also almost beat Mol and Sorum with their serves. This seems to be your best strategy against Norway. Mol and Sorum on the other hand served lollipops for the most part. I think they should serve a bit more aggressively as well. Bruno looked terrible today. Yet he found a way to win the game with his shots. I think he didn't hit a single ball in the third set. I didn't believe you could win a game like that on the pro tour. Sorun looked tired to me. I agree they generally should serve tougher but in this match? With the rate at which Bruno was giving up points? I think Bruno swung at three balls. One was a broken play kill and the other two were both out by a mile I agree. Of course it makes sense to just keep your serve in if Bruno doesn't put the ball away but the problem is that if you give a good player (who's struggling) basically a "free" pass every time, sooner or later he'll find his rythm. I think Mol and Sorum have a lot of trust in their blocking and sidout game so they feel like they don't need to serve aggressively and for the most part it has obviously worked for them, so you can't really argue that they have done anything wrong. But nevertheless I think at least Mol should use his jump serve more often. At the end of the day aces are easy points and can make the difference. Anyway I think they both were a bit tired. Which is probably why of Sorum's dig were rather sloppy and at the end he didn't seem to jump very well anymore. I guess you get exhausted when you reach the finals each and every tournament

He also missed a few sets that looked too deep. I was very impressed with Evandro's play overall, as I mentioned before he reminded me of Phil at his best in that he understood that if they were going to win it was going to be 80% him and maybe 20% Bruno. In the past it has felt like Evandro ran from that kind of play - always looking to split block, never really focusing on being a great blocker etc. Playing with Bruno has really been good for him and God help the FIVB if Bruno can tune up his sideout game a little and Evandro can maintain this level of blocking.
