Fullerton defeats future member Ucsd 3-1 including 26-24 in the 4th set.
I don't know if this means Fullerton has improved or Ucsd has a long way to go before beating D1 competition.

SDSU takes three sets from UCI in their exhibition match (25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 25-21, 11-15) goaztecs.com/news/2019/8/24/womens-volleyball-volleyball-topples-uc-irvine-in-exhibition.aspxLoryn Carter led the team with 14 kills, plus Sophie Wood and Abby Marjama put down 12 and 11 kills respectively (nice balance). Owens led the team with 19 digs, and Wolfe and Wood had 7 block assists. Is the starting line-up looking like: OH1 - Loryn Carter OH2 - Abby Marjama OPP - Sophie Wood MB1 - Mikayla Wolfe MB2 - Onye Ofoegbu S? - Sierra Davis/Kelly Negron L - Chloe Owens DS - Erin Alonso Also, Cal swept UC Davis pretty handily (25-13, 25-14, 25-15). Not sure who from UC Davis played in the scrimmage. Nothing on the UCSB/CSUB scrimmage.

I speculated Owens would win out the starting libero spot because of her serving prowess.

I thought UCSD was very good.
Fullerton still is struggling to have FBSO.
Fullerton is improved on defense and setting. Fullerton used a variety of starting units but two freshman stood out, ES and JC.
Julia Crawford led the way recording a double-double with a game-high 19 kills to go along with 11 digs. Elizabeth Schuster posted a team-high 27 assists.
JC was the only player to play in all 4 sets. ES set the 1st, 3rd and 4th sets.
Also junior Savahna Costello came up with a game-high 25 digs while sophomore Haley Carmo had a very productive match finishing second on the team with eight kills at a 33.3% clip to go along with a game-high five blocks.
From the UCSD website:
The Tritons struggled offensively, hitting .102 with 44 kills and 29 errors in 147 attack attempts. They led in digs, 67-62, but trailed in blocks, 9-6.
"We did some good things but lacked consistency and I guess that can be expected after just a week of practice," said 10th-year head coach Ricci Luyties. "It was good to see everyone play in a match situation."
Cal State Fullerton, which hit .189 (47-20-143), was led by Julia Crawford's 21 points and 19 kills, both match-highs. Savahna Costello led all players defensively with 25 digs.

To clarify here Trinity does NOT refer to Trinity College which is seen as a joke, a sham school that gives credit for life experience. For a D1 team what could be a bigger cupcake than playing a D2 school? That would be playing Trinity College. LOL
Trinity refers to OH Trinity Castaneda who transferred from Hawaii to Ucsd.

Trinity Castaneda had 6 kills with 5 errors in 23 attempts hitting 0.043%. The attendance was listed at 541 which is like 2.5 times Fullerton's average of 207. Good for them.

2/3 of the 541 were students getting free popcorn. 2/3 of the students left before the 3rd set.

Maybe why other exhibitions started at 2:00 to finish the match by dinner time.

Big West 2020 recruiting
Long Beach st. got a PrepVolleyball.com senior ace in the 90's. Could that be Josh Tuaniga's younger sister?
Ucsb got 2 senior aces in the 100-110 range.
Who are Ucsb's recruits for next season?

She was a middle blocker. Setter Tuaniga will probably be a top 25 recruit.

The only other Ucsb commit I have heard about is 6-4 MB Nia Correal.
Wow that's probably another top 30 recruiting class for Ucsb.
Next season Ucsb is going to need all the help they can get to make up for the loss of Lindsay Ruddins.
Long Beach st. seems to have a better ranked recruiting class then Ucsb.
I read going by the top 100 juniors LB st. should have 3 senior aces in the top 100.
That's the unnamed MB, mystery player and setter Mia Tuaniga.

For 2020, I know that LBSU has Kameron Bacon and Meauna Booth at MB. My money's on Booth as the unnamed MB.
