Like most I see Cal Poly and Hawaii being the class of the conference next season but I see Poly as the favorite. They have the best returning player and do not lose as much as Hawaii does. However, Hawaii’s two Oregon transfers should really help them out and could push them over the top in the end. The biggest question mark for Poly is their head coach and how she adjusts to her new position.
I see UCSB and LBSU fighting it out for third place with LBSU having more up side if their setting improves and I mean it needs to get a whole lot better. UCI and UCD lose a bunch so they probably need a year or so to get back in the thick of it. UCR and CSUF once again will be the dogs of the conference. CSUN is in no man’s land just above the irrelevant.

Without question the best incoming player is Hawaii’s Rasmussen. She has the talent to be first or second team all American when it is all said and done. Her and TVW are a slight cut above UCSB’s Ruddins. Those three are the class of the conference and should all be super next season.

It all depends if TVW is 100% healthy.

Nah...I think Razzy is better than TVW. Jolie will be a double double machine. I still can’t over the 20 kills 20 digs performance against Texas.
Eye opening numbers considering that was her first real competition in a UH uniform. Imagine her when the squad is complete and UH has another legit pin hitter along with a middle attack.

What happened to all the HYPE that was going on about UH's freshmens? I think the last freshmen from overseas will be a big deal for the UH team. She can play front and back court. This is the person I would like to see OPP: -Amber Igiede - 6-3 | MB | St. Michael HS | Baton Rouge, La.

Going to bring this thread back alive to add that Choy is transferring to Hawaii, and I think I would add her as one of the "newcomers" who could arguably be one of the best in the conference. However, I do think Rasmussen should probably take the title since she is one of the only players who will be on par with TVW and L. Ruddins.
If you are talking about incoming freshmen, I have no idea who I would nominate for Freshmen-of-the-year as I think it is a little too soon to tell. The most highly touted freshmen coming into the conference are Ofoegbu and Wagoner based on the Senior Aces rankings. I think Ofoegbu will see immediate playing time in the middles along with Wolfe for UCI, so she could definitely make a case for herself. After redshirting this year, I also think that Villamu or Stanton will start and make an impact. For LBSU, if Chavira could displace Aigner-Swesey as setter, then I think she could make an argument for herself if LBSU ranks among the top 3 teams in the conference. Also, LBSU brings in the player from Greece, Georgatzi, who looks like she could make a case for herself.
Then, Hawaii brings in five freshmen, and they could all potentially make a case for themselves. I've seen Igiede play a few months ago, and respectfully, I wouldn't be surprised if they redshirt her. She is a very raw and physical player who I can see contributing in the future, but I do think Westerberg looks a little more polished in the middle. I wouldn't put Igiede ahead of Krug necessarily if Krug is fully healthy, and I think Akana has a little more of a case to play in the middle as well. Westerberg could definitely contribute to the middle, and she is also a viable option at the pins. I'm not sure if I would give her looks at the OH position since her passing is behind Wagoner and Hellvig in my opinion, but she could a great option at OPP. However, with Choy, if we run a 6-2, then Westerberg playing at OPP isn't as appealing as her playing in the middle though. Akana is a player who I'm intrigued in. I have not seen her play at the outside, so I don't know if she can pass, but I think she could do well at OPP, and it will definitely take pressure off her if we run a 6-2. Hellvig and Wagoner are definitely the top two candidates for playing at the OH2 position. I think it will be an interesting battle between these two, as I think Hellvig can more definitively put down kills, but I think Wagoner might be better at passing and back row defense. Wagoner might be put at outside, and Hellvig might be put at opposite, but we lose Hellvig attacking out of the back row. Who contributes as a freshman from Hawaii will be interesting, and I think they could definitely be the freshman of the year.

It all depends if TVW is 100% healthy. BWC polls are going to be pretty much moot...just too many wahine fans in general. However, CAL POLY's offering to make it three championships in a row will be based on a physically-ready-to play Torrey Van Winden. Very little (nothing as of yet) has been posted by the university of her status since sitting out most of the BVB season. And, I don't wish to speculate. The entire POLY team and all NLI recruits will be ready for practice come August. A compliment to coach Walters and her staff. Without a doubt, the entire BWC should be much, much, much better in 2019.

She is the type of player that can carry a team and can take over a match.
