BWC polls are going to be pretty much moot...just too many wahine fans in general. However, CAL POLY's offering to make it three championships in a row will be based on a physically-ready-to play Torrey Van Winden. Very little (nothing as of yet) has been posted by the university of her status since sitting out most of the BVB season. And, I don't wish to speculate. The entire POLY team and all NLI recruits will be ready for practice come August. A compliment to coach Walters and her staff. Without a doubt, the entire BWC should be much, much, much better in 2019. As a Hawaii fan, I still think Cal Poly is the favorite especially with TVW returning. She is the type of player that can carry a team and can take over a match. Niece? Wink.

UCSB's 2019 recruiting class is ranked 31 by PVB. Just sayin'. I really would like to see UCSB make some noice out of conference this season. This is Ruddins senior year and she deserves to have some team success before she graduates.

LBSU is probably a setter away from being a good team next season. Hopefully Chavira is a fast learner and can step in and run a fast offense that can maximize the effectiveness of the young hitters. The following year Tuaniga comes in and solidifies the setter position but I am tired of waiting for good setting and an up tempo offense.

Doesn't she have family history at USC? regardless, I'm glad she's happy. She seems like a big beach girl (by the looks of her IG) so maybe that played a big part. SB is a beautiful place to live

SB is a beautiful place to live I don't have an answer to your specific question but I gather from experience that recruiting can be very tricky and complicated. It's not about where you want to go but how the chips fall. First, Ruddins may not have been interested in USC. I know from my own experience and my kids' experiences that often, siblings don't really want to go to the same school that their siblings went to. Second, maybe USC was trying to get someone else and just waited too long. Perhaps Ruddins got impatient or just got pissed off that she wasn't their top choice so she gravitated toward another program who expressed stronger interest. Third, maybe USC didn't have a need for OH at the time. Maybe they needed setters or middles more? Fourth, maybe she was asked to verbally commit to USC and she hesitated because she was young and didn't know what she wanted. So, if she waited too long, perhaps the USC coaching staff decided to go a different direction and grab some girls who were more certain. Fifth, maybe the UCSB coaching staff was really aggressive and targeted her really early and some sort of personal bond was created. At that point, it was too late and Ruddins had no interest in any school other than UCSB. Sixth, maybe a boyfriend was planning on enrolling at UCSB? Or an ex-boyfriend was enrolling at USC and so she wanted to be as far away from him as possible? Anyway, lots of reasons that may have nothing to do with whether USC wanted her and vice versa.

This is definitely a 50-50 shot for a lot of kids with their families. I didn't want to go to the same college as my sisters. But then you have people that are told they are going to a certain college from when they're a little kid because of family history. The Haggerty sisters come to mind as 3 great D1 athletes that all chose different schools (Nebraska, Michigan State, and Wisconsin).

Why did her youngeer sister follow her to UCSB?

There were other factors invoked to their transfer and decommits

I am tired of waiting for Fullerton's schedule. I know they start in a tournament in Chicago. Do any of you know which school(s) might be holding a tournament in that area?

Would Big West fans like to see an end of year conference tournament? A three round tourney with the top 6 teams playing, number one and two seeds bye in the first round.
It would also be nice if there was a conference challenge tourney with the top 4 teams playing team from the MWC, WCC, etc for example.

I remember in the old WAC days, Hawaii was so dominating that the post-season conference tournament was a snooze-fest. Hawaii had everything to lose and nothing to gain. The Big West is a more competitive conference. (I thought I'd never see the day when I'm able to say this with a straight face).

CAL POLY & LBSU draw pretty well. All other schools poor to ugly poor. So having a BWCT with schools other than the top three would be fruitless, IMHO. Introducing the other conferences may be more interesting/draw more attention.

If Hawaii had the level of talent they did when they were in the WAC, they would run the tables as well in the BWC. The WAC with BYU, Utah, and Colorado State back in the mid 90's was a tough conference. The watered-down WAC after those schools departed was a big mess.
