Several teams are playing double header! Those teams are probably not making much money hosting volleyball matches so why not play doubleheaders? Save on operating cost. Play 3 matches in 2 day means only opening the gym for two days instead of three days. A program like UH will not do doubleheader(at least UH playing twice a day) since it would cost the program attendance money. At UH, playing 3 games in three days equals at least 5,000 in attendance per day for 3 days. Money in the bank for the university. If UH play one double header, they will lose one pay day. That would be like giving up a pay day of at least $50,000 to $75,000. Not smart financial move.

=HAWAII Pre-Conference Schedule=
Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic Aug 30: San Diego Aug 31: St. John's Sep 1: Washington
Rainbow Wahine Invitational Sep 5: Army Sep 6 Sacramento State Sep 8: Denver
Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Volleyball Challenge Sep 12: West Virginia Sep 13: Utah Valley Sep 14: UCLA
Baylor Tournament Sep 21: Missouri Sep 22: @ Baylor
Looking at Hawaii's schedule once more. I think Denver needs to be on Hawaii's schedule every year or at least what San Diego has done recently, every other year. Missouri, Baylor or any team in the midwest and southern parts of the country are fine choices in september, its a good time for Robyn to check out recruits since we'll never be able to get the best of the best from Cali. Army, Sac state, Utah Valley should never be on this schedule ever again. but overall i'd give this schedule a solid B just behind Cal Poly.

I don't think Utah Valley is a terrible team, but it depends on how well they perform in the WAC. Army and Sac State had decent seasons in 2017, but they had very poor seasons in 2018. Both teams did not lose too much from their rosters, so hopefully they will have better seasons. In my opinion as well, Utah Valley > West Virginia, but West Virginia will hopefully have a better season as well.

Just early guesses at how the Pre-Conference Records may look:
Hawaii 7-4 Cal Poly 7-5 UCSB 6-5 LBSU 6-6 UCI (based on schedule so far) 6-3 UC Davis 7-6 CSUN ? UCR ? CS Fullerton ?
I do think that these are somewhat reasonable records for the teams given their schedules. I think Hawaii, Cal Poly, UCSB, and LBSU can possibly perform better than the records that I listed above, as these are the teams that have the most potential to create some upsets. UC Davis loses a decent amount of key players, so it is hard to gauge where they may end. I'll update these records once UCI's full schedule is out. For CSUN, UCR, and CS Fullerton, I'm not sure how to gauge how they will do, and each of these teams lost their most valuable players, the biggest lost being Owens from CSUN.

In an earlier post - now hidden Way Back in this thread (which I resurrected from the third menu-page after one week of *crickets*) - I predicted UH 8-3; CP 6-6.

One thing that I factored into CP's predicted record - which I have personally experienced in both Utah and CO - is exerting at altitude: in this case for three matches. REALLY hard!
