Creighton has significantly more talent on their team than the rest of the conference (not counting Marquette). Jaela Zimmerman in terms of stats was very similar to Zumach last year as Freshman. Adding Kostelac is a major addition in replacing the lost firepower from last year. Not saying this team is as good as the last several years, but this team is plenty good enough that finishing outside the top 2 will be a major disappointment and they should have a shot to win conference. I agree that Creighton is still among the cream of the crop, but losing so so so much at once will hurt, while St. Johns lost nothing. Zimmerman is a stud, but Zumach had double the blocks and .5 kills per set more.

Here’s my prediction for the top four: 1. Marquette 2. St. Johns
3. CreightonBold prediction. No chance it happens, but certainly bold. They pay me to be bold!

I think Lines will produce more for Marquette than Haak did, so I don't expect them to drop off too terribly much. Rostenthal will just be a huge loss for them. Lines will be really good. She had a ton of kills, but only hit .185 last year for Pacific. She may prosper as the OH2, letting Barber take the majority of the swings.

I like St. John's, Villanova, and Georgetown - I think any of them could finish 3rd. If any of them finish 2nd it will be a great season. More important is whether any (the best one) can make the tournament and give the BE three?

It’s going to be a battle again between Creighton and Marquette. I give the edge to Marquette this year. Jones is a key addition for them. St. John’s, Villanova and don’t count Butler out for that 3rd/4th spot. Solid core of returners for Butler and the return of their all around Logan who sat out last year with an injury.

Marquette will have Lines, Barber, Jones and not to mention Werch.
Rosenthal may be a big loss but im sure they can find someone to replace her.
Marquette should win the big east Easily

Should be an interesting year, really looking forward to watching it unfold. St. John's has their top players returning and got a few more solid recruits.

I think Marquette is a pretty clear favorite for #1, but I'm not confident about the order of any of the next 6 or 7 spots. Unfortunately, most teams in the Big East aren't deep, so even one injury can make a big difference. Let's hope everyone stays healthy and maybe the conference can pick up a 3rd spot in the NCAAs.

1. Marquette - too much back, especially because one of them is Allie Barber 2. Creighton - They might still win it, but replacing two 4 year starting outsides isn't simple 3. St John's - (It gets murky now) Returning a lot, they've got the best setter and had last years best freshman 4 Villanova - Only one starter gone and brought in a good transfer. 5. Butler- Logan back, but lose their all conference middle 6. DePaul - (really murky now) Bring back their lefty with her they were in contention to be in the top half, when she got hurt--- not so much 7. Georgetown - Symone Speech is gone, she was the best player ever at Georgetown, hard to replace her 8. Xavier- Lost good pieces, they'll be young. 9. Seton Hall - Lots of Freshman 10. Providence _ I'm hoping they don't finish in the cellar, but they still have a long way to go

Kari Zumach transferring would be a big blow to Creighton. Has this been announced anywhere? Just fyi - transfer thread reports that Zumach is going to Indiana.
