Did anybody ever post how many full scholarships each school has? I was thinking that beginning this season all the schools were fully funded. Same here.

I was thinking that beginning this season all the schools were fully funded. Same here. I do not believe that is true. Not yet. But what I don't understand is how a conference, as a whole, allows such inequity among specific sport programs. How is Creighton and Marquette funded at such a high level and Providence, Butler and Georgetown and others, not funded anywhere near the same level? (Attendance numbers are not the answer here; that's a chicken and egg situation.) Why are universities that compete within a conference not required to have the same standard for the programs within that conference? Why does the Big East give the championship weekend to only Marquette and Creighton, which furthers the inequities? Why do some schools fly coach and others fly charter? Why do some schools pay their coaches appropriately and others don't come close to paying their coaches enough? The universities need to get it together and fund their programs evenly. Georgetown, Butler and Providence have the money. They all have the money. I think the Big East bears some responsibility to create a balanced league within each sport. It helps the competitive level and national prominence of the Big East and its universities.

Well Georgetown finished T4 last year (with ‘Nova), so yeah, they’re far from the bottom. Can they improve on that this year?
1.Marquette, 2(T). St Johns, 2(T). Creighton 4. Nova

Sure 1. They’ve been in top 4 last couple years and have a nice returning cast / players incoming who fill needs. Top 4 in conference nothing new really. 2. It’d be boring if everyone chose the same teams.
I’d think picking St Johns to T2 would be a bigger stretch given Creighton Marquette have had a lock on 1 and 2.

And now for bigger Big East news. UConn is joining the ranks. Don't know much about the Huskies volleyball team at all. But wondering if the addition does any shaking up to the scheduling. Travel partners will change. Providence will surely be paired with UConn and then, where does Creighton go? Without a partner? Does that benefit Creighton? Or hurt them? And if UConn joins the league for NEXT season, I sure hope none of you already bought plane tickets to see your team play.

I think some of their other teams actually participate in Big East - Lacrosse? Let’s hope BE adds another team. I always thought Dayton or Loyola would be good fit. Not sure why anyone would have purchased plane tickets yet for games that won’t begin until 2020??

St. Louis would be a great fit! Great academic school, I'd say much better academic fit than UConn. And as far as the plane tickets...I meant if UConn is brought into the league this coming season, not 20-21. Schedules would be ripped apart. But I cannot imagine the league would do that.

Doesn't St Johns return nearly their entire starting lineup?

The deal is supposed to be finalized next week. Won’t be effective until 2020/21

Doesn't St Johns return nearly their entire starting lineup? Yes. Lost just two seniors. Neither a huge loss. Diaz graduated but was a RS Junior, not sure if she is back or not. She would be a significant loss however. I look for St John’s to battle for 3rd/4th this year.

Big East won’t add anybody else because they want to keep their double round robin schedule. It was UConn or bust. SLU, Dayton and Loyola do absolutely nothing for the conference.

What would the changes to the conference schedule for volleyball look like with 11 teams vs. 10? Mid-week games?

Marquette has a strong schedule for 2019. Preconference matchups include BYU, Baylor, Illinois, Wisconsin, UCF, Syracuse, and UNI.
