I think troy and Tim fall back a little bit after this weekend. I think teams will start to serve him every ball

I think their game plan was a disaster against Jeremy and Chaim.. If it wasn't a disaster in design, it was in execution.
Too many missed serves, and when they were in, they weren't aggressive.
But, I remember Chicago a couple years ago where Tri got owned really bad by Phil, and he survived.
It will be interesting when it's a full field, and they get a big team in the 2nd round.

Field just had a really bad game. He was all over the place where he even lost the point of contact on serve receive. I think he's also learning how to play with a sense of urgency without rushing. They would fall back a couple points and he would try plays where he's forcing everything and they just turned into errors. If he can find a way through all that it will really help his game. He really needs to learn that there are is such thing is multiple point plays. Literally can only go 1 at a time.

I think they are going to live in that 5th-7th space in most fields. That’s not a knock on Troy as this is his first year as a full time main draw guy and he got there on the strength of his partners points. He has to grow into this stage. Got a bit of fools gold in HB and then the Austin Troy looked like the error prone version we saw most of last year. I think he will settle in somewhere in the middle and continue to improve. He’s still very young and as solid as Timmy is, he’s not going to carry you by generating a lot of points defensively so you’re going to have to play well to advance far with him.

Would like to see Troy n Tim split block in order for the server to be more aggressive with the serve. They need to generate more opportunities from an aggressive serve as neither is elite at blocking or defense. Plus, I think Timmy gets more touches than Troy as a blocker.

Always thought this team should split, even if Troy isn’t great on defense, either was Trevor but he’s improved just like Troy would.

Long term its a better play for Troy's development, but is it best for Tim? In the short term they will be less effective and if Troy improves a bunch he will get a shot with a better defender who also will play FIVB with him Also you correctly note Trevor has improved, but he still isn't good on D.

Also I am not sure how fluid Troy really is, having seen way too many gawky, flying ice giraffe back flipper attempts. He does needs to be getting defensive reps in for the long term though if he has international ambitions but I cant see Tim going along with it

I don't see how anyone can describe Troy as fluid. He even walks awkwardly. Timmy and Phil would be a fun combo but about as likely as Kerri rejoining the AVP.
