I watched these games (mostly while at work) and Karissa's serving was frustrating to watch, but besides that, they just played their steady game and won. Burik and Satterfield started out hot in pool play, but just petered out. Kinda proves that point that more needs to be done to develop the men's side of the game. Are Burik and Satterfield even a top 10 US team on the Men's side? That is a clear NO on Burik and Satterfield. By AVP rankings, they are around 16th.

Were no other teams better than them interested in playing the Pan Am games? Guess Miles/Billy lost in the qualifier, but nobody else entered?

Guess Miles/Billy lost in the qualifier, but nobody else entered? I tried to find if there was compensation for playing/winning and I couldn't find anything. The top 6 teams earlier this year had to be planning on FIVB events, add in a few that didn't want to travel, and a couple not eligible and you kind of reach their level.

Jace and Karissa probably passed up at least 14K by skipping Hermosa. I certainly hope they got compensated for winning the Pan Am games.

Partains over Miles/Billy says many things about both teams. So true, that's an embarrassing loss for a quote international end quote team. You're typing. Use "Real Quotes".

Yeah, I assume the top tier teams were planning on playing FIVB so they didn't bother with the qualification event and Ian/Mark won it so they got to go.
I'm pretty sure if there was/will be any compensation paid to Karissa/Jace it wasn't more than Hermosa, but it's an experience.

I've never heard of any compensation for the Pan Am games, in any sport. But be me being behind the times, lol..

I'm super happy for Cook/Pardon, something they'll always remember and I'm always proud of the players who chose to represent the country.
