The Dominicans have been playing well so far but I feel like our girls will be victorious just like in the Pan-Am final last summer.

Dominicana Roster
#2 Yaneirys Rodriguez (L) #3 Lisvel Eve Mejia (OH/MB) #7 Niverka Marte (S) #8 Candida Arias (MB) #11 Marifranchi Rodriguez (MB) #12 Yokaty Perez Flores (S) #14 Prisilla Rivera Brens (OH) Captain #16 Yonkaira Paola Peña Isabel (OH) #18 Bethania De La Cruz (OH) #20 Brayelin Elizabeth Martinez (MB) #21 Jineiry Martinez (MB) #22 Erasma Moreno (OH) #23 Gaila Gonzales (OH) #25 Larysmer Martinez (L)
This is like an A- Dominican team. Their major exclusion are Brenda Castillo (which could push them down to B+ when you conisder how much she adds to this team), and Gina Mambru as well as Annerys Vargas Valdez (who has practically been a starting MB since like Y2K)
Anyways, this should be a very good match. DR went 2-1 last week, taking down Russia and Brazil while losing three-deuce sets to take a 3-1 defeat to the Chinese. A long emotional weekend for DR, who had some questionable roster decisions to China. I don't know why Peña Isabel didn't play against China, they opted for the veteran Rivera who was nursing an ankle injury that occured against Brazil. Also, Jineiry Martinez who has been a rapidly improving MB, was taken out mid-match and did not return. She has had some troubles with her shoulder, but I don't think that's why she was replaced.
DR has a lot of firepower. Brayelin Martinez, De La Cruz, and Yonkaira Peña Isabel can absolutely bring it on attack. The lefty-oppo Gaila Gonzales has an even faster armswing than you saw in the Pan Am Cup last year when USA came back to beat DOM 3-2 in the Dominican capital Santo Domingo. This will be a hard-hitting matchup that comes down to same old same old, how well Dominican Republic can control the ball. When passing is good enough to get her involved, MB Jineiry Martinez has upped her attack game as well. I could easily see this going 5 sets again.

I forgot just how big and tall the DR is when they were playing Brazil. Sure, Brazil is maybe one of the smaller teams now, but DCL, J. Martinez, and B. Martinez is a huge front line
Jinery Martinez I think impressed me the most - she was unstoppable when the ball control was good

I watched some of DR matches last week and they're an athletic/physical team. If they played the way they did against Brazil and not how they played against China, they could be trouble for the young USA team. The only problem is that they play USA last which doesn't favor DR as they seemed tired going against China for their final match last week.

Eve is playing OH against Serbia. I had no idea she can receive. She's not playing OH. She's playing MB and Kwiek is mixing up who he takes out in the backrow so that Eve can receive for one of their pin hitters. Her service reception has actually been as good as any Dominican player. She also played MB and received against Italy yesterday DOM serve receive has been absolutely horrendous today. They're not getting any support from either libero today, they aren't able to hold their own let alone pass the seams. Serbia is about to go up 2-1 on DR. Bjelca (?) Serbian has been HOT. She has hit the best of any player today.
