Any good dog-related books you read recently? The ones I read I can recall recently are Dog Sense by John Bradshaw and Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz, both are science-based interpretation of dog behaviour, their history and how they see the world, while debunking some myths along the way. Further back, I also recall a book by psychologist Stanley Coren titled "How Dogs Think".
As for fiction, there are the classics I read long ago, like Jack London's White Fang and Call of the Wild. There is also James Herriot's Dog Stories and Marley & Me, A Dog's Purpose. What about you?

I gave it to several friends for Christmas and they have reported back that they love it. Sorry the pic link didn't work but it's on the web link. So I own the world's sweetest giant dog. Loves everything and everyone. Never heard him growl at anything; he's barked maybe half a dozen times in his life (usually for attentions/when I'm holding out on treats). Tonight on the walk he starts GROWLING. For the first time in the 3+ years I've had him, and it's honestly terrifying for me. He's gigantic, and the growl is much deeper and more ominous than I imagined. I start wondering what the hell is going on that's got him set off.
We look around the corner to see what he's growling at... and it's a Christmas tree. Just a discarded Christmas tree someone left out on the sidewalk. He comes up to it, sniffs it, keeps growling, gives it a bark, and then pees on it. I go up to it, assuming there has to be SOMETHING going on with this tree. But no, it's just an evil Christmas tree.

I mentioned Lassie earlier, but what are other good dog-themed movies and TV series, in your opinion?

I mentioned Lassie earlier, but what are other good dog-themed movies and TV series, in your opinion? When I was a kid, and we were visiting NYC, the weather turned nasty so we went to see a movie. I always loved it and watched it again not too long ago. I didn't realize all the star power the cast brought. Won Ton Ton, the Dog that Saved Hollywood (1976 trailer) In between directing "Death Wish" and "The Sentinel" Michael Winner made this family-friendly comedy about a German Shepherd that becomes a movie star during the silent era. Bruce Dern, Madeline Kahn, Art Carney, Ron Liebman, Teri Garr, and Phil Silvers headline a cast that includes an impressive gallery of Hollywood veterans in cameo appearances.

Ah yes I have heard of Won Ton Ton, but never seen it. Speaking of German Shephard stars, I remember now, there is also Run Tin Tin. And since we are on the topic of German Shephards, I know people sometimes mistake Norwegian Elkhounds for a "mini" German Shephard, since they shared a black mask, giving a passing resemblance to each other. Although the two are entirely separate breeds. I had consider owning a Elkhound, they do bark a lot, and given their smaller size, they are more of a watchdog than guard dog. But they are also less aloof than German Shephards and more friendly and outgoing with people, which I appreciate.

I've read both White Fang and The Call of the Wild. Loved them.
