Is Chiaka there? That’s the main question. Edit: it looks like no, from the Instagram photo. If you saw her at Texas over the weekend, why didn't you ask sis whats good I watched on LHN. I pay a lot for cable, but I didn’t purchase the ‘ask people questions through the TV feature...’ sorry.

My roster predictions for this tournament: S: Calini, Poulter OH: MBH, Robinson, Hill, Larson, Foecke MB: Ogbogu, Washington, Dixon, H. Tapp OPP: Drews, Lowe L: Courtney Bring the extra OH so one can be a second Libero when needed. Make ANYONE but an OH the captain so we can see Larson at Libero if needed. I'm sticking to this roster prediction. I am glad Adams and Rivers are in the mix but I don't see them making the cut. At this point I'll be pretty annoyed if Hannah Tapp isn't on the roster. She has played well in every tournament she has played in this summer. I don't the she is Olympic material but this tournament doesn't get anyone to the OG so why not bring her? I also really want to see Foecke and Poulter make a major tournament roster. Their time is now. If Courtney is to be our Libero then she needs to play every single game and learn how to bump set better out of system and cover tips better. I like the idea of bringing 5 OH's especially when two of them (Larson/Robinson) can also play Libero.

Hannah has earned a spot for this tournament with her play this summer. She's done well. I would think Rivers/JWO/Adams (or Tapp)/Hancock (or Poulter) will be in play along with Cuttino and Kingdon and some of the girls from the Champions Cup to play in the Continental Championship after the World Cup.

So based on pictures and social media here is the training roster for this tournament:
S: Carlini, Poulter, Hancock OH: Larson, Hill, Robinson, MBH, Foecke-Ritcher, Wilhite-Parsons, Kingdon-Rishel MB: Akinradewo(Preggo), Washington, Dixon, H. Tapp, Adams, Alhassan Opp: Drews, Lowe, Rivers, Cuttino L: Courtney, Wong-Orantes
Around but apparently not a factor: Ogbogu, Lee.
Who makes the roster of 14?

I have a feeling we will see this:
S: Carlini, Hancock OH: Larson, Hill, Robinson, MBH MB: Washington, Dixon, H. Tapp, Adams Opp: Drews, Lowe L: Courtney, Wong-Orantes
Not what I want to see but I think this is what we will get.
I really want Poulter, Foecke, Rivers, Alhassan....basically I wish for the youth to be in the mix.
What we all REALLY WANT is to see Chiaka on the roster. Doesn't look like its going to happen and I hope she is ok.
Is it wrong that I am just ready for this quad to be over so we can retire some more vets and have our younger talent take center stage?!

Wait, why all the sudden Hancock? I would think it way more likely to see Poulter or even Poulter instead of JWO (and keeping Hancock). Or actually even another pin over JWO. Basically I'm puzzled by the Hancock/JWO inclusions.

This has probably been discussed and is sort of irrelevant to the World Cup, but do y’all think female athletes are more likely to hyphenate their last names when they’re married. We now have five OHs with hyphenated last names. Is this common in other sports? What are on their jerseys, I remember Larson used to have the full one on hers but now it’s just Larson. Did any of their husbands hyphenate? I don’t know, I’m probably just rambling but I feel like this is an interesting topic around where marital conventions and expectations of women intersect with female athletes’ careers and need for name recognition.

Well Jordan Larson is no longer married, thus the return of her maiden name, but I do understand the question of the hyphenate vs. the married name / maiden name. I'd say name recognition does play a big part in the hyphenate.
