I’d like to see this tomorrow -
S: Carlini MB: Ogbogu, Washington OH: Larson, Foecke OPP: Thompson L: Robinson
And then this vs Thailand -
S: Lloyd MB: Dixon, Gibbemeyer OH: MBH, Foecke OPP: Lowe L: Courtney -----------------------------
I can't see any reason why MBH and Foecke would ever play on the floor together. Foecke's potential in the near term is not to suddenly develop into a hard hitting Larson clone by 2020, "that's just not possible", but maybe to become an acceptable backup to MBH. Simone Lee had a shot at this spot but seemingly has not caught Karch's eye. Karch would be better served by starting Larson again with Foecke and give her a trial to see how she compares to MBH.
Lloyd, why bother? Carlini has taken the position. Dixon and Gibby? Why waste a moment with players who will not be on the floor in Tokyo. Washington and Ogbogu please and Rettke back for the finals. Lowe, I don't see the reason. She's just an American Nicoletti. I don't think she has the intensity to hold off Drews as a back up. Thompson as starter all the way through the Finals.
There is no reason not to have these young players getting as much floor time with the US's best setter for the rest of this season all the way to the end. You can see what Italy is doing with Pietrini. They are throwing her to the wolves and not pulling her when she has a bad moment and it has cost them. But Italy sees her as a key to their 2020 hopes at what is their weakest postion. Displaying Thompson is critical to her getting an "I can't refuse pro offer for next season" preferrably with a team that is qualified for the CL.
Hill and MBH were two of the top five OH's in Club this year. Karch needs to find a way to build around these two with some of the younger players and just maybe he has a chance to make the finals in Tokyo and salvage another four years. The talent is in plain site. The question is does Karch have the vision and the will to shape it into a winning combination by 2020?

Nobody saw MBH at libero coming. So, let's stick with this. Lets see what Dixon or Gibby can do at libero. I mean, why the hell not

Gotta figure Lowe and Gibb get some p.t. tomorrow vs. Thailand. Probably back to the 6-2 as well.

And pretty sure LC was one of the top hitting recruits as well as setter.

Why isn't Lowe getting playing time? But honestly, the young ones are our best bet if we want to to pave our path to the podium. Carlini has got the leadership and skills to carry this team as the quarterback but the key is finding the hitters that she connects with. Hopefully this match will give USA some chances to see which line ups work best.

Moksri/Kanthong, Thinkaow/Boonlert, Tomkom/Kongyot. The rotation continues: Larson/Robinson, Gibbemeyer/Washington, Carlini/Lowe. Foecke is wearing the 2nd red L Anthems!
