Larson, Kelsey,MBH and Hill... Can not get past China, Serbia and Italy....beSides their middles, they have OPP and OH that can put up monster blocks, such as Boskovic, Mihajlovic, Zhu, Zhang, Egonu....Lucia Bosetti is small but she is one of the best blockers out there.
Their setters are also tall and good blockers.
Basically there's no where to go..

When carlini is in and clicking with the pins, as long as usas defense and passing is going well, they can go up against anyone. And they've proved that this summer.

I would still take Logan Tom. I would take tom over Zhu. Or any outside of all time.

They've also proved that they can be unsuccessful against those teams at times. There are arguments to be made for and against everyone and the issue is trying to prioritize the best choices and/or scenarios to be successful.

I'm. It sure how Larson is the top voted for OH over Robinson. Clearly too many "I know the nt team members but don't ever watch them play" posters here. Robison is better in then back and front court in their last nt season. Smh. I don't think its necessarily that she's the top OH but more so that she is the leader and most experienced to the point where she's basically guaranteed a spot. With that being said if Larson and Robinson are our OH's come Olympic time, the US is looking at a solid 5th unless they can pass every single ball perfect. Honestly I think the success of the US depends on how MBH develops as a passer this club season (also we need Courtney to go)

Right now there are a couple locks -> Larson, Robinson, MBH, ogbogu, carlini, drews I like MBH and Robinson starting, I don't think we could win an Olympic final with Larson hitting. At all. I think Robinson is a perfect,y capable 6 rotation OH, carlini a capable setter, ogbogu and foluke if she comes back might be the best middle duo at the games. The passing will be huge, but Larson should not be hitting, we need a heavy hitter like MBH, see how foecke and Plummer develop overseas but I don't see it by 2020

I think Larson, Robinson, MBH and Hill are more than capable. None of them may be the names you mentioned, but they can still be successful

Tom would be my #3 draft pick behind KYK & Ting, but realistically I’d pick her second to start with one of them. If neither were available I go Tom, if I get my way I get 1+Tom. OH1 - KYK/Ting OH2 - Tom OPP - Egonu That’s a SICK pin combo.

I think it's important that everyone realize that at this point the USWNT has undergone a pretty drastic transformation this past international season. With that come ups and downs in level of play. The team over all us SIGNIFICANTLY younger and less experienced.
I agree that Serbia, China and Italy look better on paper than USA does. However that does not mean that on any given day the USA won't win the gold medal. Anything is possible friends.
I think not being the clear favorites plays into USA's favor. The past two OG we were the world number 1 going into the games and had that added pressure to go out there and deliver. While I think a good amount of pressure leads to better performances from any team....too much of it can be a detriment.
I definitely think a medal is certainly with in the realm of possibility simply due to the structure of this tournament and how the pools are currently arranged.
Serbia will be in the weaker pool if the Netherlands doesn't qualify and Turkey does from CEV. USA will then be with China, Italy, Russia and Turkey in the same pool. The only danger there is landing 4th in our pool where we would likely cross Serbia in the quarterfinals and then it gets real cute.
I predict the USA will land 3rd in pool B behind Italy and China. The true test then comes in the semi finals as I predict China, Italy, Serbia and the USA will be the top 4 teams. While a 4th place finish would suck it should finally bring about a change at the helm of the USWNT. However if they medal (regardless of the color)....Karch won't be going anywhere.
Still a lot more developments to come before next summer. Anything can happen in the world of Sport. That's what makes it so fun to watch!
