Mine was the same except I had Courtney at Libero instead of Lake. However, it will probably be none of the above and they'll go with Robinson. If so, I assume they'll add another OH? Not sure who that would be. Foecke?? That's what they should do. Winning the gold will require OOS kills. It would be smart to bring Foecke, because after MBH, the projected roster has a dearth of big arm talent. Even for all of Hill's attributes, she's average at best OOS, maybe even below average. Robinson and Larson aren't going to deliver kills OOS either. It's not going to happen, but I would take the must have vets (Foluke, Larson, Hill), then pad the roster with players that stress opponents the most and can get points when play is sloppy. OH- MBH, Hill, Larson, Foecke MB- Foluke, Ogbogu, Rettke RS- Lowe/Drews, Thompson S- Carlini, Poulter/Lloyd L- Robinson This would also provide a flexible lineup. Larson can play libero if Robo breaks down. MBH, Foecke, Thompson, Ogbogu, and Rettke can be terminal against most competition. MBH can also play RS. Lowe if she can get into pre-sabbatical form, otherwise take Drews. I take Poulter to back up Carlini if she shows good development during her pro season, otherwise Lloyd for veteran presence. Carlini has it on lock barring injury anyway. Robinson is the best libero we have right now and one year won't change that given how our other liberos don't get international opportunities. Great Analysis! Thoughts: Even though Robinson is the best choice for L at this time, I think she really thrives along with Larson on the Carlini run quick offense. Plus; they are both clicking on their serve game -> maybe a separate Libero (Lake/or ?). Drews is impressive - when she learns to hit high hands and wipe off the block with her hard drives, she will be really dangerous. I hope Poulter is ready, but I know it took Lloyd a couple years to be able to run the US A Offense. On Foecke: I hope she finds find a way personally to get past her slow starts and get her motor revved a little faster (earlier). I think this will help her get past her reception woes early in matches. She is hitting in the low 90's in the VNL when she takes a full swing; even MBH and Drews are only hitting in the mid 80's on their big swings. I'm excited for the US A.

Was there ever anything to substantiate the claim that Kelly Murphy is no longer with the WNT in any aspect? This is the general consensus, but I don’t know if I ever saw anything to confirm. Just curious.

Been giving this some thought and realized that we should decide a line up of who plays in China to win VNL before we decide who goes to Tokyo. Shouldn't that be top priority right now. This tourney is important and it would boost USA's confidence, and also should give coach Karch a clearer picture of who can handle the pressure and earn points.

Adams couldn't even impress in the Canada exhibition matches. To be fair, the setting was god-awful there.

I chose: OH: MBH, Hill, Larson, Robinson MB: Akinradewo, Ogbogu, Rettke Opp: Drews, Plummer S: Carlini, Hancock L: Courtney (But expect/hope Robinson plays here) Obviously, Rettke and Plummer are the places where I'll get most disagreement. I chose Plummer because I hope that she is moved to OPP in the national team gym and that, in spite of Plummer's pretty awful performance in the USA/Canada scrimmages, she is still terminal on the right side and can grow into that over the next year. I think what I have seen from Rettke suggests she is the best slide hitter on the VNL roster, and her blocking is improving. She's a virtual neophyte to the sport, but improves consistently. I think she'll be ready come the Tokyo games. Absolutely agree on Rettke. She is the most athletic 6-5+ MB I have seen and she gets better every game.

Just curious. Did Kelly Murphy retire?? been wondering the same thing but no one seems to be able to provide evidence. Would be really funny if she shows up on the Tokyo roster. Funny for about 2 seconds.

But to be fair, she was a very lethal in-system hitter. She was especially efficient with Alicia Glass. Now that Glass is not here, wonder how effective she would be. I can see someone like her working if there was an excellent OOS hitter somewhere on the court.

Did Kelly Murphy retire?? With the options we now have from this VNL, I'd say, barring injury, she's essentially been replaced on the US women's national team.

Can someone tell me why Benson isn't in the mix for libero? I know she used to be, but I guess she didn't impress?? However, she's really the only libero getting consistent international play.

I find it intriguing that Ajanaku and Benson are still listed when there has been no mention of them at all. I also wonder why Rivers and Akiu aren’t listed? I do like that all of the players from the upcoming Pan-Am’s (Cup/Games) are listed.

It doesn’t seem like the Pan Am training team against Canada will be the actual group going to Peru next week when someone like SSS is back in Minnesota per her social media. Maybe they’re sending some of the girls from the VNL roster that don’t make the final 14 (like the backup setters). There are still seven tournaments upcoming...wow! Have to think that entire roster will be used at some point!

So, between the VNL team, Pan Am roster and the CNT team there are like 50-60 athletes all training in Anaheim this week? You can’t say Karch isn’t giving everybody a look at this point....
