Interesting results from the Qualifier already. The #32 seed, Northern Cal players Belton and Holroyd, took down the #1 seed en route to securing a spot in the MD. #41 Sparks/Van Winkle also advanced. Seeds #4, 5, 6, and 7 advanced. Two spots still playing...#15 vs #34 for one spot and #30 vs #14 for the other. Edit: #30 McKeown / Monk-Heidrich advance (they beat #3 Nourse twins in their second match) # 15 Jerger / Moreland advance Haha, I always think of Jenna Belton and Chanti Holroyd as USC/UCLA, but I suppose some people think of them as Bay Area homegrown. I’m curious to see how Van Winkle/Sparks can cope with A Team...welcome to the big leagues! Not an excuse, but the Nourse twins just got back from a Brazil 1 Star.

Gonna take a wild guess. If Falyn and Alexa go uno dos, they’re gonna split.

Gonna take a wild guess. If Falyn and Alexa go uno dos, they’re gonna split. May not even take that! watched the 2nd set, and Falyn choked a few points away around 16 all. 3 "On 2s" did not go down.

Geena and Emily hanging tight with ATeam in Set 2. It’s tied 16-16 now.

They had Brit on the Amazon Prime calling the ATeam vs Urango/Hartong match before.
Apparently ATeam had to pay the fine for skipping Moscow (a few thousand) because they pulled out so last minute.

Went back to watch. Brit is 16 weeks pregnant and thus stepping away from the sand mid-season. Wasn’t she playing at Hermosa just a few weeks ago?
She’s mad and sad and a little disappointed at the beginning of the season (with Carly Wopat).

A quarters in the winner's bracket of Ross/Klineman v. Hughes/Wilkerson + HP/Pavan v. Day/Flint is in play and would be incredible

Don’t recall Day/Flint defeating MHP/SP ever... I think a little home-court edge would be Day/Flint's best hope to spring an upset. Another note, Wopat/Callahan up 19-17 in the 2nd set, Wopat dug 4 times in a row for a 21-19 loss. yikes.

She needs to be confident and give Alexa a good set, Strange has proven she can put the ball away. Certainly better than 0-3. FF has a bad habit of going on 2 too much, imho. Almost like I don’t trust my partner v. It’s the right play at the right time. On another note Brandie mastered the 2 shot today and dominated the net. So fun to watch her play.

Crissy Jones and Zana Muno are so fun to watch. Muno is so crazy fast. Picks up shots so quickly and makes great digs. They had a rough start against DiCelllo Pollock but once they got going, it was dominant. My wife, who knows enough about volleyball to be just a bit dangerous, has now told me that we have to watch all Jones/Muno matches for the foreseeable future. They are her new favorite team.

Welcome to the Jones/Muno fan club, SteveK! We really like watching them as well - Muno is so quick, and she can elevate and bang a ball when needed as well, eh? And Jones' blocking technique is so interesting to watch - she seems to wait until the last possible millisecond to jump, but still seems to have great timing and touches a lot of balls? They were very gracious yesterday when we said hello and we mentioned that it is too bad that they are not going to the same college, and they laughed as they agreed. It is fun to find a new team that you really like enough to follow - makes it cool to have someone to root for!

Love watching Muno play. I can't wait to see that first match where she plays Sponcil.

Love watching Muno play. I can't wait to see that first match where she plays Sponcil. Similar in so many ways. Differences: setting ability and emotional fire in favor of Sponcil. When Sponcil is playing she just has that "get the F off my court" deep inside attitude that champions tend to have. Not to say I don't also really like watching Muno play. I actually have wondered if Sponcil wouldn't be an incredible libero for Team USA... but I don't think she's vocal enough for that role.
