Nebraska had them down to a coin flip. They can be beaten. Just probably not more than 2-3 times out of 10 (against very good teams). Not the best odds.

They didn't really lose that much and have a lot of talent. I think a good case could be made for them as B1G favorite. (I won't make it, but it could be made.) How is "starting 5-1 setter and both outsides" not losing much? Penn State is a bit of lightning rod. One could also say they return their 4 best starters and have a 'stacked' bench along with a good recruiting class. They will need to get some OH production or it probably will not work.

Entirely predictable. In the last fifteen years there have been only two instances of a Big 3 member who finished as either the Champion or Runner Up not appearing in the Top 2 of the next AVCA Poll (Stanford 2004->2005, Stanford 2008->2009) out of 17 possible instances. Compare that to the only three out of thirteen instances of a non-Big Three team staying in the Top 2 after finishing as either Champion or Runner Up(UCLA 2011->2012, Texas 2015->2016, Texas 2016->2017).

The poll will flip a lot after the first few weeks of season, because this is wack. IMO USC and Oregon are too low, and Penn State and BYU in the top 10 is generous.

Except for the glacial pace of movement ... The Force(Poll Inertia) is strong with the AVCA Voters.

The AVCA voters are dumb. And probably pretty damn lazy ... it seems year after year they look at 2018 final results and modify slightly

I think Oregon is better than BYU, Penn State, and Florida. Oergon has as much athleticism as anybody in the country You could have been saying this for the last 10 years. I think they are the most underperforming team in D1 volleyball over the last 10 years. I would say Texas but they did win it all.

I would say Texas with they did win it all. Delusional. It was only in the 2015 class that Oregon started recruiting at the level of the upper PAC-12 schools. The 2012 team made the Final Four with 2 Top 50 recruits in the lineup. We've only had one Top 10 recruit ever suit up for Oregon in a match so far - Colorado has had more.

They don’t always get the huge athletic hitters that Texas, Stanford and Penn State practically own. They recruit the kids that fit their mold and I think they do it very well. They are always the fun team to watch. You never know what to expect from them.

Who are the idiots that voted for Nebraska and Penn State #1? Seriously, they should be blacklisted for the entire year. The only mild exception would be Hambly not voting for his own team, but even that just seems disingenuous.

I trust the conference preseason polls a lot more than the AVCA poll. Don't think much thinking goes into this one. Wish I could like this twice. Guess I just did.

What, just because Stanford is basically the same players who won in 2016, lost in the final four in 2017, and won again in 2018, you think it's unreasonable to say some other team is better than them? OK, so it actually is unreasonable to say that, but hey, people are often unreasonable.
