Nebraska had them down to a coin flip. They can be beaten. Just probably not more than 2-3 times out of 10 (against very good teams). Not the best odds. And Nebraska probably shouldn’t have even been in the finals. Illinois definitely let the semifinal get away.

Tough for Nebraska to beat a veteran team like Stanford in September. With a home crowd of 8,500... Not really.

Will be difficult for Stanford to lose this season. Only 3 or 4 teams can match up to possibly do it. I think the timing of their schedule is what will get them. They will have an eleven day stretch with four brutal matches in September. If none of those teams beat them, we don’t even need to have an NCAA tournament because that will seal it for Stanford. I think they’ll beat Texas, lose @ Penn State, beat Minnesota @ PSU, then lose to Nebraska in Lincoln. A loss to Nebraska in September could likely be their last loss of the season. Southern Cal will beat them. "I CALLED IT"

He couldn’t even beat USD.

Southern Cal will beat them. "I CALLED IT" I edited my last post, but only added additional context. But uhhhhh, why are we putting our faith in Brent Crouch to beat Stanford? ?? He couldn’t even beat USD. USD put a beat down on them last year. In 2017 they should beaten them in 4 at Galen. Picah was a very good player for them. Lanier, Botkin, Baptista, Gross and a very good setter Lazaro will beat Stanford once this regular season. If they meet in the play-offs.................STANFORD will sweep them.

Can someone make a thread titled “Who can beat Stanford?”? Make it a poll with multiple options. Sounds like a good idea to me

Bingo. Stanford doesn't give a damn about the crowd. I still have nightmares about watching those same seniors as freshmen coming back from down 0-2 in the Regional Final in 2016 in Madison.

Can someone make a thread titled “Who can beat Stanford?”? Make it a poll with multiple options. Sounds like a good idea to me I'd rank the pre-conference team with highest probability of beating Stanford in this order: 1. Nebraska -- playing @ home, BIG RED crowd, and several matches for Kubick and Knuckles to get up to speed. Cook can spend much of his time preparing for this match since his other pre-conference opponents are in the "no problem" category. 2. Penn St -- 1st match after Stanford's home match vs Texas in front of a raucous BIG Kitty crowd. 3. Minnesota -- Neutral site match where they might catch Stanford sleeping assuming the Card defeats The Empire. 4. Texas -- Stanford is at home, but Texas highly motivated after being woman-handled last year in two matches against the Card 5. Florida -- Home match for the Gators, but Stanford already on the East Coast for matches in Charleston, but at least this will be Stanford's 1st tough opponent and they might be working out some kinks 6. BYU -- Stanford at home and no RJP but if Stanford beats Nebraska maybe they sleep walk and the Cougars can steal a win

I'm not entirely sure I agree with this. I remember seeing at least one Stanford player (I think it was Alade) admit that the crowd was a factor in their loss at BYU (essentially, she said that they were a bit intimidated at first, which is part of the reason they played poorly in the first couple of sets). Stanford certainly can win anywhere, including the most hostile environments. But I wouldn't say the crowd is a complete non-factor.
