Besides the World Cup, it appears the USA has two more tournaments left on the NORCECA calendar this year. Champions Cup next week in Colorado and Continental Championship in October in Puerto Rico. Both are listed on the USA schedule for this summer. Roster for Champions Cup is coming on Friday. www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2019/August/14/USAV-to-Host-Champions-Cup-in-Colo-SpringsI’m curious what sort of teams the US Women will send to Colorado and Puerto Rico. College players are back in school and will be in middle of their conference seasons in October. The A team appears to be on vacation and will just be back from World Cup in October. Most players SHOULD be at their club teams. Maybe the USA does not participate in the Continental Championship?? They did not participate two years ago as they had already qualified for the World Championships in 2018 by winning it all in 2014. No idea what the purpose is of this tournament? Same as men’s side where the top teams in both tournaments qualify for the Olympic qualifier in January (in which the USA does not need to participate)? I’m guessing some sort combination of Adams, Kingdon Rishel, Wilhite, JWO, SSS, Cuttino, Hancock (?), Jones-Perry, H. Tapp, P. Tapp, Lee, Rivers, Rosenthal, Rolfzen as players that will participate?? Those are the only players that are left! Haha!

IMO- Why not send the team that competed in Pan American games that placed 7th or 8th, sinnce they ( USA) don't have anything to loose, both m and w teams.

Some from that roster are back in college and I assume more of them will participate in the Continental Championship in October (like Kingdon-Rishel, H Tapp, Cuttino, etc).

I'm still trying to figure out the significance of this tournament from an zonal perspective. Does USA benefit from participating in Champions Cup? Olympic Qualification is done, USA is essentially sending a team that could essentially lose all their matches assuming the other NORCECA teams will send their A teams. Canada has already beaten the Pan-American Roster teams TWICE in California in June, Dominican Republic is not a walk-over match and is always one to put up a good fight vs. USA, and Puerto Rico has the ability to beat this USA roster as well.

Dominicana is sending a B(ish) squad
No Castillo (car accident) No De La Cruz No Brayelin Martinez No Rivera
None of their top 3 outsides or libero. I expect a very rough tournament given they already struggle with ball control

I will be watching Evans closely. She is so physical and athletic . I would take her over Poulter since Evans moves better. Love SSS but in the international game and all the length on the court, Evans should be a force on the block.
