All who participate, beware if THIS is the Grande Prize: IYKYK! LOL! Also, OMG, because I actually own a miniature Tiki idol! I wonder if I should offer it as a prize.

This is probably just a HUGE distraction to focus everyone's attention away from the crappy prize list. I bet the Logan Tom VB Magazine cover has a huge shipping label that's been pulled off and we can't tell if it's Logan or Greichaly. Not done with my prize list. I'm trying to add more to increase the crap average.

Here's a model entry that follows the rules, in letter and spirit:
(I've used famous Hawaii names for this model entry, except #18, for obvious reasons.)
1. Name the starting lineup, specifically, S, OH, OH, OH, M, M, L. You need not differentiate between OH and OPP. (7 pts: 1 pt for each correct name)
Kanoe Kamana'o, Sarah Mason, Lily Kahumoku, Kim Willoughby, Emily Maglio, Maja Gustin, Nalani Yamashiita
2. List all players who plays at least one point up to and including the moment when one team reaches 15 points in the first set. Normally, this is the technical timeout, however in some cases, the technical timeout is not called because one team calls a timeout shortly before any team reaches 15 points. (Maximum number of points = number of players who actually plays) (Contest point value = number of correct answers - number of incorrect answers)
Kanoe Kamana'o, Sarah Mason, Lily Kahumoku, Kim Willoughby, Emily Maglio, Maja Gustin, Nalani Yamashiita, Ashley Watanabe, Kanani Danielson
3. Which team will win the match? (3 pts)
Hawaii
4. What is the final score, in sets (regardless of team)? (e.g., 3-0, 3-1, 3-2) (2 pts)
3-2
5. Which team will score first in the first set? (1 pt)
San Diego
6. Which team will call a timeout first in the first set? (1 pt)
San Diego
7. Which team will reach the 15th point first in the first set? (1 pt)
Hawaii
8. What will be Hawaii's team hitting percent (in the format, 0.xyz) at the end of the match? (Contest point value: 3 pts if within +/- 0.010; 2 pts if within +/- 0.020; 1 pt if within +/- 0.030)
0.288
9. Which Hawaii player will get the first kill? (1 pt)
Kim Willoughby
10. Which Hawaii player will serve first? (1 pt)
Sarah Mason
11. Which Hawaii player will be the first to pass the ball? (1 pt)
Kim Willoughby
12. Which Hawaii player will get the first dig? (1 pt)
Nalani Yamashiita
13. Which Hawaii player (if any) will get the first block? (Both "Block solo" and "Block assist" counts as a "block.") (Your answer may also be "none”) (1 pt)
Emily Maglio
14. Which Hawaii player (if any) will get the first ace? (Your answer may also be "none") (1 pt)
Kim Willoughby
15. Which Hawaii player will get the most kills by the end of the match? (1 pt)
Kim Willoughby
16. Which Hawaii player will get the second most kills by the end of the match? (1 pt)
Sarah Mason
17. Which Hawaii player will have the highest hitting percentage by the end of the match? (1 pt)
Emily Maglio
18. Which Hawaii player will have more Assists -- Bailey Choy or Norene Iosia? (1 pt)
Bailey Choy
19. Which Hawaii player will be named "Player of the Match" (as determined by the broadcasting company)? (1 pt)
Kim Willoughby
20. What will be the official attendance listed on the box score? (3 pts if answer is within +/-200; 2 pts if answer is within +/-400; 1 pt if answer is within +/-600) If no attendance number is listed in the box score, I will use whatever number is mentioned in Cindy Luis's post-game article. If she mentions a turnstile number and another number (usually tickets sold), I will use the turnstile number.
7,459
T1. (tiebreaker) Name the six Hawaii players who will play the first point of the first set. (The correct answer will be the six players on the court while the first served ball is in the air during the rally of the first point in the first set.)
Kanoe Kamana'o, Sarah Mason, Lily Kahumoku, Kim Willoughby, Emily Maglio, Nalani Yamashiita

I would definitely need to see the updated prize list before putting this much work into my entry. 1. It took me less than a minute. 2. For many prompts, there's a significant random element so you'll need both luck and skill/analysis because, for example, how the hell will you know who will score the first kill or get the first dig or who will call the first timeout? 3. The prize list will be updated throughout the week as I go through my junk, some of which are in a commercial storage space. (I have to drive there.) 4. The prizes by themselves can NOT be the draw. You have to kind of like doing this, much like PTW Contest or Fantasy League, which offer no prizes but have a fun value. I myself loved writing up the rules and am sort of looking forward to calculating the scores. I've got a spreadsheet ready. 5. You don't have to put in much work. Just look at the roster and pick a name. Frankly, I set up this contest because even hardcore Hawaii fans won't know. This is a new team with a lot of new faces. No one knows who the hell is going to play. 6. As the season goes along, I wouldn't set up the same contest with the same rules. It has to be tougher because, otherwise, everyone would submit the same answers because they've sort of figured out Hawaii, the starting lineup, sub patterns, and so forth. 7. No matter how much I update my prize list, I doubt any will be THAT attractive to you. You have to do this with the attitude, "Okay, I wouldn't mind getting a dinky toy stegosaurus to enter a free contest. It might be fun. What else am I going to do tonight?"

looks like this contest is dead. might need to go back into your wallet wolfgang. i'll enter just for the funsies Well, we're only on Day 1! It's not like a movie where the initial weekend of release determines its success or failure. The good news is, if there aren't that many contestants, I don't even have to use my fancy schmancy spreadsheet. LOL!
