Anyone heard when PV is doing the 2020 SA list? I was thinking this usually happens in August, but couldn't remember the usual timeline. Yeah, last year's SA prologue was on August 13 with the first ten SA's released on August 20. We haven't gotten either of those things yet. Quoting myself here: They just released the 2020 SA prologue. SA list starts on Monday.

I see Stanford as having 34.5 points in players that will see no meaningful minutes this year. That would rank their bench 25th, while only dropping the remaining team behind Wisconsin by 0.5 points. I didn’t do the math but just eyeballing, I thought it would be nice if they could field both an A team and B team😀!

Here is a quick projection of the 2020 class in terms of Black Ink coming from PrepVolleyball. This is mostly formula driven from several different sources and is not necessarily how I think it will end up. I will be updating this projection each day (at least privately) for the next couple weeks as the Senior Aces get revealed along with 140 remaining honorable mentions. I do think Minnesota is much more likely to end up having the #1 class (in terms of Black Ink) than this projection indicates. Since this projection is mostly formula driven and based on some sketchy pieces of information, it will change. But overall, I think this list is directionally correct.
1. Minnesota - 18.5 2. Stanford - 18 3. Texas - 16.5 4. Wisconsin - 16 5. Michigan - 15.5 6. Florida - 15 6. Kentucky - 15 8. Notre Dame - 14 9. UCLA - 13.5 10. Kansas - 12.5 11. BYU - 11 11. Ohio State - 11 13. North Carolina - 10.5 14. Louisville - 10 14. Michigan State - 10 16. Purdue - 9.5 17. Arizona - 9 18. Maryland - 8.5 19. Penn State - 8 20. Creighton - 7.5 20. Kansas State - 7.5 20. Nebraska - 7.5 23. Clemson - 7 23. Long Beach State - 7 23. USC - 7 26. Illinois - 6.5 26. LMU - 6.5 26. Texas A&M - 6.5 29. Brown - 6 29. Utah - 6

The funniest thing about sports performance I ever experienced was biorhythms. It was big in the 1970s. As a boy back then, my parents bought me a fancy schmancy calculator and in the box was included a book about biorhythms. I didn’t understand what it was but I read it and learned that biorhythms affect sports performance; that is, athletes’ performances are dictated by a trio of overlapping cycles. Depending on the day of the month and how those cycles overlapped at that day of the month, you could determine if the athlete was going to do well or just plain suck. It was kind of whacky, even cult-like. It even gave me formulas on how to calculate the rhythms of your favorite pro athletes.

It's not surprising that the best players play the best. True. But then you've got the issue of balance. Tx was #3 but not enough of that talent resides in DS and L. And that's not even getting into the fact that Setter has more impact on the game than is reflected by an even weighting with all other players.
