Depending on your audio setup at home you should be able to mute the center speaker which is usually for the announcers and then just get the ambient sounds via the other speakers. Aside from that, you're out of luck.

Thanks! I'll look into doing that. It would sure save me many exhausting hours of listening to mindless drivel that takes away from watching sporting events. Years back I remember watching a baseball telecast that cut the announcers voices and only broadcast the stadium sounds. Pure heaven IMO. I wish they would make it an option for viewers. They may find out that they could save millions by not paying for needless mouth!

Won't work for me at the moment b/c I decided to go for really good two channel three years ago played through a mixing studio powered subwoofer+powered monitors vs. 5.1 through a separate amp and five $75 speakers. It doubles as TV sound and a really nice stereo. However you've just given me a reason to consider a secondary crappy 5.1 amp and a crappy pair of small stereo speakers if it would allow me to cut out the commentary on stadium court matches.

I just tried it but it's all mixed in equally between my 5 speakers so that idea is shot.
