Wonder why Taylor/Gibb not playing?
If they are serious about trying to make up ground for one of they Olympic spots, I would think they need to play all possible events 3* & higher events left that give them points if they get a good finish. Play this tournament, then stick around Europe, practice, stay on the local time zone and put themselves in as good as a position as they can to play some good VB in Rome.
In this 3*, if they finished 3rd, they would get 480 points, which right now would tie for their 4th best points finish. 2nd- 540 and 1st- 600 points (tie for their 2nd best points finish). With not many tournaments left to go and a lot of ground to make up, why would they skip another tournament when they are struggling with points? Again, not understanding their strategy to qualify.
In 2019, there is only Rome, two 3*'s and one other 4* left to go in 2019. They have not put up anything better than a 9th this year. Getting a 2nd in a 3* is the points equivalent to finishing ~4th in a 4* (well 20 point difference but close)...something they have not come close to doing this year.

I kind of get the feeling that Crabn and Gibb are judt trying to hang on and understand their results are mat hinges their ability. They seemed pretty pumped about a mediocre Moscow finish. I feel like the dont have the confidence to go into a tournament like this amd think they can win, like they have more to lose in this tournament than the possibility of making a run and gaining.

Haha they’re not trying to skip out of Chicago. I mean 2C and Allick are playing in this 3*.

Another instance of the #1 seed playing the #3 seed in the round of 16. Can’t imagine the local promoter is happy about this.

Strange tournament. Seeds 1-8 are all out except for #2. Not so different from Austin on the AVP on the women's side this year.

Another podium less tournament for American seeds who should podium in one like this. The Estonian team that put out Stafford can play at a high level on occasion but losing to Belarus is inexcusable for a team with ambition
