Diggin ' Water Heads Up: The match is on Friday, Aug 30. Canx the Thursday in the thread header. You got the wrong tag, but it looks like the actual Diggin' Water caught his mistake. Still Thur. in the thread head 🤨
Oh well, if anyone plans on Thursday they'll just be a wee bit early.

This will be a tough match to start off with. A big upset if Hawaii wins. Real concern is opening night jitters from all the new players. I wonder when Robyn will decide on her starting lineup? I’m willing to bet she (and her coaching staff) has already decided and will inform the team early this week so that they can start prepping for San Diego and can instruct the individual starters (as well as possible subs) what their specific role is. When I say “prepping for San Diego,” I’m not quite sure how they will do that this early in the season without any film. I suppose they have some historical data, but it’s just on paper. Anyway, you constantly hear coaches talking about just worrying about their side of the net at this point in the preseason.

Hoping for the upset but season after season, the wahine has had a slow start finding their groove until later. I'm thinking San Diego is gonna pull a W again.

Tough match for the Wahine. They open with a Top 25 team (San Diego). I'm surprised that only now it's been talked about. Hawaii fans are very familiar with the Torero offense, fast sets to the pins, so expect the slide to be quick to the outside and behind the setter. They are also great on defense, so expect many hard hit balls to return over the net. Coach Petrie is a really good coach!

I remember her name coming up as a possible replacement for Dave Shoji back in 2017. I don't know if that was serious or just some fan listing random names.

San Diego lost a lot of firepower from last season, so I'm curious to see how they do this year. Also interesting to see the former Duck reunion with Brooke, Jolie, Kyra, and Camryn.

Of all the teams Hawaii played in the last two seasons, San Diego was the only one that I thought really hammered Hawaii. It wasn't even close. It was kind of embarrassing, really. I mean, the old Hawaii used to have teams like San Diego for lunch, for chrissakes! But I think all the top San Diego players who really took it to Hawaii two years ago are gone and looking for real world jobs, thank god. (I hope this is true.)

If you forgot, the previous USD-Hawaii matchup in 2013 was also a classic. USD was certainly not consumed for lunch. hawaiiathletics.com/boxscore.aspx?id=17481&path=wvball
