How many, if any, of last years top 16's are skipping 17s? I also recall at least one 16 eligible (Luke Benson) that played 17's last year. That said: Sean McQuiggan, Rockstar (Mira Costa). J. Lukas and A. Sheveland from last year's OCVC always bear watching. I've been a fan of Lukas since 14's, so there's quite a bit of bias. Dillon Klein, despite the now deleted troll above, played V at Loyola as a frosh. MB Surf 17's. Dark-horse / watch list: Kade McGovern, SG/Burroughs. 6'7" VB height with the physique of a middle line backer; nimble and still growing. That kid Sean McQuiggan from Rockstar 17-1s is a beast. Haven't seen a middle in that age group of his size that can move as well as he can... besides the other middle on that Rockstar team. Setters work really well with him, starting setter seems kinda small but is very talented. Not to mention they have Ben Coordt, one of the best players in his class undisputed. Would like to see them getting another outside but OH2 is pretty solid as well. Their oppo left the team to SCVC and the 2nd setter, Dvorak, seems to be fitting perfectly in into that role.

Klistan Lawrence (352 17s Elite) 6’7 Oppo/Outside Recently committed to LBSU (class of 2021), kid has amazing athleticism and just absolutely destroys the ball when he swings. On the USA Youth Team and will most likely carry his team to a medal at JO’s this year:
Noah Robin (Pinnacle 17’s) 6’7 MB Love watching this kid play. He brings tons of energy to the court and his quickness and jumping ability is unusual for a player for his size. Also a LBSU commit (Class of 2020)

Klistan's 352 team finished 5th last year, since they have added a MB and an OH which are both excellent. I would be surprised if they don't medal. 352 has 3 gold's and one silver from BJNC - 2015, 2016, 2017

Even if you were correct - that proves what, exactly, about how a particular 352 team, this year, will do? Are they BB, with 5 teams worth of players in every division to draw from? Nope. They're a relatively small club that comes to play, every time. 352 is, from what I've seen over the past 4 years, one of the clubs that travels, and competes, the widest, and in multiple divisions - see Anaheim, Chicago, St. Louis, ECC, etc. - and their teams are frequently in the mix in Gold/medals, and is almost always one of the most entertaining teams/clubs to play. The boys know exactly who and what is coming when they see a 352 team ahead of them. Further, seems to me in the time I've been following that one superior player can, and does, elevate a good team to a potential medal position. Pretty good argument that's what generally *makes* a medal team - there are a lot of good teams, that can't quite get over the hump. If you've seen Lawrence (I have, and I'm SCVA, not 352), he's very good, and likely to only get better as he gains more experience / skill. The hype (again, to me) seems justified - not sure exactly why folks seem to react so negatively to him. On his team, last summer, another very good player from the now-17s was wearing a boot, so regardless of what happened in Dallas or how the breaks came down, that's just not a good predictor for Reno - it's a different season. Will they? I have no idea. Neither do you. Are they in the discussion? Of course.

I would also say the following are really good players: Ben Coordt, 6,4 OH Rockstar Mira costa Jordan Lucas 6,3 OH OCVC Los Almitos Max Gordon 6,2 OH. MB Surf Costa Jordan Lucas is most definitely not 6’3 lol

I wouldn’t say he’s 6’1 either, he’s no doubt the best 2022 OH, but I’ve played with him before and he is just nudging ab 6ft, his vertical makes up for it and he has no problem hitting against huge blocks and still getting kills.

At the Holiday Camp USAV HP measured all the kids - In shoes, with arguably lowered measuring tapes. My kid at the doctor is 6'3", and at HP he is 6' 4.5"... It is what it is. 6'3" sound about right for in shoes plus .5" for Jordan.

One related thing I recently saw on this, looking at D1 rosters: Trever Nachimzon shrank by 2" when he transferred from CSUN to St. Francis. Same young man, but 5'10" as a Red Flash, vs 6'0" as a Matador. I assume one of those is accurate, and I have a feeling I know which one.
