Re: UDub -- I agree with you there. Two of their losses were with Hoffman either out of the lineup or not 100%. She's back, and I don't actually expect them to lose another game, or at most one more loss. If they lose one, it would likely be either Utah in Salt Lake City, or Oregon in Eugene. Oregon is severely underrated.

I've been looking forward to this thread all season! You should really get paid for such fine work.

Next in line: 17. Hawaii 18. Illinois 19. Utah 20. Colorado State 21. Cincinnati 22. Purdue 23. Missouri 24. Western Kentucky 25. Notre Dame So, Hawaii to Seattle, again? Illinois to Waco? Utah to Provo. Colorado State to Palo Alto? Geography rules.

I'm not buying this Washington/Top 4 business.
They're good, and yeah they lost when Hoffman was out, blah, blah, blah.
But name the teams that haven't had some injury issues. It happens.
I'm not saying they can't end up a top seed, but they're inconsistent. They came a couple of points away from losing to Oregon (in Seattle!!!) and could have been swept.
Not ready to get tickets for the finals yet.

This is a lot to overcome before declaring they are a forgone conclusion as a top-10 team.

UDub -- my comments about Hoffman being key is that UDub is actually quite weak offensively for a Top 10 team. Bajima gets the most swings but the stats say Hoffman and Bajima are about equally important. So losing Hoffman was losing their best or second best attacker. When your offense is suspect losing your best/ tied for best hitter affects UDub more than teams like Stanford, Texas, etc that are deep at the attacking positions.
UDub wins by defense, but they need all their offensive parts functioning or it goes down hill quickly.

What about Louisville and Texas A&M in the mix for a seed?
Washington will be interesting. They have the RPI potential, but they will have to win. Probably needs to go 17-3 in conference, 16-4 starts to get dicey. 15-5 and I don't see it.

That assumes Hoffman is healthy. P.S. Please tell Pablo to take injuries to key players as an additional input. There is no more important factor in sports odds, so why should Pablo ignore that?

I don't have the data to back this up, but I actually feel the the committee has been doing better and better about getting closer to 'true' seeding. For example, they wouldn't send #17 to #1 in the opening rounds. They've also been better about almost never sending multiple bottom 16 teams to the same sub-regional.

I’d imagine Utah is tired of being sent to Provo.

Lexi Sun and Nebraska to Gregory Gym for all the memes. Didn't even think of that with that possible #2-#7 pairing. However I think that would be a subplot to the old Big 12 rivalry between the two schools.
Sun is kinda old news to most Texas fans. Most of us consider Eggleston the equal of Sun, if not better, so her leaving hasn't been a significant impact on the team.
