Baylor losing one match to Texas shouldn’t set them back too much considering all other teams have already dropped at least one match too.
It’ll be an exciting game with lots of firepower. Texas is the top offense in the Big 12 hitting .328 as a team. Baylor is behind them in second, hitting .310. They are also first and second in the nation in this category as well.
Contrary to that, Baylor is the best defense in the Big 12, averaging a league-leading 2.81 blocks/set and an opponent hitting average of .146. They are 14th and 15th in the nation for those categories. Texas is 4th in the conference with 2.34 blocks/set and 5th with an opponent average of .207. They are not in the top 50 in the nation for either of those categories.
I’ve always believed in the saying that offense wins games and defense wins championships. Baylor matches up well to Texas offensively. If they can manage to establish their block early and take the young hitters out of the picture, I think they win comfortably. Kara McGhee leads the Big 12 in blocks/set as a freshman, and Lockin is third as a setter. Their blocking is one of the most critical factors for a win.

Shame this isn't one of those ESPN Weds night matches.
Other than Playstation, is there another way to access LHN?

I personally don't see Baylor blocking Texas out of the gym. They've already gone up against some really good blocks and have still hit relatively well. For Baylor to win, I really do think they have to play perfect. This reminds me a lot of the previous few match ups with Kansas in Austin. Their FF team couldn't manage to win a set in Austin but took Texas to 5 in Lawrence. Can't help but to see a lot of similarities between that Kansas team and this Baylor team.
Hoping Butler takes over this match, both offensively and defensively. Mid-week game so the student section will be hype. I think Texas matches up really well with this Baylor team
Horns in 4.

Shame this isn't one of those ESPN Weds night matches. Other than Playstation, is there another way to access LHN? There are free trials of other streaming services that probably carry it. Sling, fuboTV, stuff like that. Just make sure to cancel immediately after signing up so you don't actually have to pay. I said it before, but ESPN is crazy if they don't realize that this would draw viewers. Nobody who isn't from Kansas cares about the Kansas/KState game this year, but that's their ESPNU match for the night.

What I just read indicates that DirectTv Now is has regional availability of Longhorn Network only, but Playstation Vue (you do not need a playstation) carries it nationwide...FuboTV and Sling do not carry LHN in any capacity.

Playstation is still the most straightforward option I guess.

we get a chance to learn something about both teams, that is great. Baylor is either going to be the top 5 team they have been propelled to, or they will not have accomplished what Rice did, which for a team in Texas, says a lot. Texas is fighting for its only hope at a Big12 title and chance at hosting a regional. Losing would eliminate both, baring some unforeseeable upset trend among the top 10 and Baylor.
In the race of best team in Texas, if Baylor loses, does that make them less than Rice? Less than TA&M? Less than SFA? If Texas loses, does that make RICE drop out of the top 25? Top 20? & does that eliminate SFA from being a top 25 team? & If Rice drops, & SFA drops, will the view of WKU also decline in stock? The price to pay when bubbles pop =)

I think they split their matches this year. Both win at home. No sweeps.

Texas and Baylor play one another twice each season so losing this match doesn't mean either team is out of the running for the Big 12. No other team in the Big 12 should provide any competition for Baylor and Texas. For Texas, losing to Baylor once wouldn't eliminate their chances to host as they could still beat Baylor in the next match, something Wisconsin couldn't do so that would help with the RPI. As far as Rice is concerned, that was Texas' worst match all season and they lost 15-13 in the fifth. Rice is a good team, a team I could see causing a P5 team some heartburn in the tournament. The loser of Wednesday's match is still in control of their own destiny as far as hosting, I think. Obviously it would be better for Texas to win considering they have the Rice loss.

What does playing perfect mean though? Baylor hasn’t really played perfect at all times this season but still are low error and are right behind Texas in hitting percentage. So even if they play at their normal level, they are still right there with the Texas offense. That’s where defense comes into play. Baylor is a better blocking and digging team. It seems like Texas is the one that will have to raise the level of play in that category. It’s so hard to confidently predict the outcome of this match. Where does Texas or Baylor have a distinct advantage? Who wins if both teams play perfect? Who wins if both teams play at their normal level?

A Texas win would mean that Baylor loses more sets in this match than they’ve lost all season. It’s crazy that Baylor could leave Austin with 2.5x more sets lost than before the match.

Playstation is still the most straightforward option I guess. I don't think this loophole exists anymore with Sling. I know for sure it does not with Hulu. ESPN plugged this hole and when you login in with your provider on the app/website it gives you an unauthorized message. I believe the only streaming option you have if your Cable TV provider doesn't carry LHN is to sign up for Playstation VUE. NOTE: You don't have to have a Playstation.

Baylor hasn’t been tested in a while with a high caliber team, but I still think they will outplay the horns. Baylor’s block and back row are too good and I think will make it hard for texas to consistently put the ball away. Another interesting dynamic is that UT leads the conference in aces/set, but Baylor leads the conferences in least opponent aces/set.
