This is extremely accurate. The only thing I'd add are the opposing fans, though they usually fit into the annoying, "That was a double!" group. At some schools you will get a good group of local senior citizens who support the team. I think they deserve their own group. Yeah, that's fair. There's the season ticket holder group, which is often made up of these local senior citizens.

I can't stand that they feel the need to play music between every single point, but otherwise it was a good experience. it's an arena, not a library. but we all have our pet peeves. one of mine is when people chant "point [whatever]" after each one of their team's points. I suppose some people enjoy that, just like some people enjoy hearing music. Point U is probably the worst. Does the home team not realize that both teams are typically "U's"? An even second is chanting something on each contact by the home team. How does something like that even start and nobody was there to say this is dumb, stop it?

The worst fans, I have to say Utah State and New Mexico State at one time...when Hawaii was competing in the WAC. NMSU students section would taunt the players, Utah State...they throw stuff on the court. BYU can be pretty bad, at least on the men’s side. Maybe not worst but the most obnoxious for sure. If you go up a few rows, super nice. But the ones who have a chance to be on the camera are really annoying.

Maybe they're better in person, but I really can't agree with Minnesota. When BYU was ranked No. 1 last year, no one was more vocal about their displeasure over it than Minnesota fans. Whether it was on Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube (including in the comments on videos that didn't even involve Minnesota), they were everywhere. Big 10 fans are basically the SEC football fans of women's volleyball, but while there were complaints from fans of other Big 10 schools, the Minnesota fans really stood out as the most annoying by a wide margin.

We just do that to make Miami (FL) fans mad

I work at the University of Minnesota in the student services office, and we get a lot of emails from non-students who think our office is the best place to complain about any old thing. This morning my manager, who knows I'm a big volleyball fan, alerted me to an email we received that asked us to "fire the damn idiot who yells POINT U every damn stupid point the U gets." I told my manager to refer them to the Men's hockey team, if they don't like being around a team that scores points.

I suppose “Point Gophers!” could work, but... history.

It’s gotta be Hawaai. Not even close. Their fans appreciate any good play by any team. The aloha spirit runs deep with the rainbow warriors!!! I used to agree with this until the 2016 Minnesota/Hawaii match in the Elite Eight (I believe) when Nikki Taylor went down and for the rest of the match Hawaii fans (admittedly not all, but enough) spent the rest of the match posting their wishes that Wilhite would go down with a horrific injury since “she caused Taylor’s injury”. Not exactly what I’d call nice or classy. I considered Hawaii’s fan base hands down the best in Volleyball and wished more programs had fans with such passion and knowledge. I followed them more than any team other than the Gophers partially because of the fans and their knowledge. That incident left a bad taste in my mouth and I lost a lot of respect for Hawaiian fans after that (not all of them, but enough to laugh when people call them the nicest in volleyball ). Passion does not justify hoping a young woman goes down with a “horrific” or “career ending” injury due to an accident that led to another player being injured.

2/3 of UCLA fans are nice. I am the one who isn't. IMO this post redeemed the entire thread.
