It’s gotta be Hawaai. Not even close. Their fans appreciate any good play by any team. The aloha spirit runs deep with the rainbow warriors!!! I used to agree with this until the 2016 Minnesota/Hawaii match in the Elite Eight (I believe) when Nikki Taylor went down and for the rest of the match Hawaii fans (admittedly not all, but enough) spent the rest of the match posting their wishes that Wilhite would go down with a horrific injury since “she caused Taylor’s injury”. Not exactly what I’d call nice or classy. I considered Hawaii’s fan base hands down the best in Volleyball and wished more programs had fans with such passion and knowledge. I followed them more than any team other than the Gophers partially because of the fans and their knowledge. That incident left a bad taste in my mouth and I lost a lot of respect for Hawaiian fans after that (not all of them, but enough to laugh when people call them the nicest in volleyball ). Passion does not justify hoping a young woman goes down with a “horrific” or “career ending” injury due to an accident that led to another player being injured. This is seriously inaccurate so I won't just let it go. There was ONE, yes, count 'em ONE, Hawaii poster doing that. (Dedicatedfan, aka volleyballfan99, who was banned and is now back posting as Wahinefan and all other Hawaii posters wish he would go away.) There were many other Hawaii fans urging everyone to ignore him but for some reason many Minn and Wis posters felt the need to argue with the ONE idiot all night. This is common problem on this board of referring to "fans" as a whole when they really should be directing their irritation at one person. Also, this poster has apparently never even been to an actual match since they spend every match here posting vociferously. Big difference between thousands of fans at a match and the handful of people here on VT...

I think we all have "that fan" who tries to speak for all of us, and instead makes us cringe.

Way out on the tails two or three standard deviations from the norm are the idiots who post dumb things like, "I hope Wilhite injures herself to even things up."

That also implies there are a few super, super nice fans out there. The kind that would buy you a hot dog, bring it to you in your seat, apologize if it doesn't have just the right amount of mustard on it, and then ask if you would like another one.

The fan you describe is at least four deviations out and likely a candidate for sainthood.

The Hawaii Aunties are that sort of fan When we first went over in 1999 for the Final Four, they noticed (my sister wearing) my Gopher ears, and tried to trade for them. After sister explained that she really couldn’t trade away her brother’s ears, they still made us all leis. Next time we went over, we brought some extra pairs for them. They made us really fancy leis, and then (next match day) brought us HI 6-pack coolers, filled with chocolates.

It was too disgusting It starts on page 12 volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/66916/2nd-minnesota-hawaii-sat-6pm?page=12To be fair though, many of Hawaii's fans called those people out throughout the thread. Great representation. Unfortunately it is the few idiots that have been remembered most.

I would (and have) bought food for strangers, but I drew the line on condiments, napkins, personal delivery, and seconds. You have to do SOME work yourself.

Re. 2016 Minnesota regional
I remember the Willhite comment after the Taylor injury. My only response to that was turning off the livestream as I couldn't watch the match. It was not the same without Taylor. To this day, I have not watched that match beyond a few points after the Taylor injury.

Like the Aunties, if I were the type to make leis (and I'm not), I'd gladly give some for free to Minnesota fans even after a failed negotiation for the gopher headgear. But I would complain later about it, those Minny ingrates can't even part with their precious gopher ears!

But if i ever trap one; I'll send you his ears! GO HUSKERS

I'm angry that I didn't post that answer... I read in a cookbook that the reason Thai people are so nice is that they take out their aggression by endlessly pounding things in a mortar and pestle. I suppose that they mostly use machines now, so look out world.

Nice, France has a pro volleyball team. I'm sure they're the nice-st.
