All sectional brackets have been published. Out-bracket matches are already underway and will continue throughout the week.
In Section 1, Suffern (16-0) and Scarsdale (9-6) advanced to the sectional final on Saturday 11/2 @ Pace University (8:00pm). Scarsdale had not won a playoff match before this season, and pulled a minor upset over Clarkstown North to reach the final.
The Section 1 D2 Final will also be this weekend, featuring Eastchester and Clarkstown South, who qualified as the only D2 teams in Section 1.

Teams entering the post-season undefeated (only best 3/5 matches considered).
Section 1 D1 - Suffern (16-0) ***Notable wins - Defeated each team in Section I 3 times. Won the Clarkstown South tournament over Burnt Hills. Very possibly the best team in school history and have already advanced to the Section 1 D1 Final.
Section 2 D1 - Shenendehowa (17-0) ***Notable wins - Defeated Burnt Hills twice including a (27-25, 25-18, 25-13) sweep. Two wins over Bethlehem and Columbia. Sweep over Penfield (25-18, 28-26, 25-16) on the road. Won BHBL tournament without dropping a set. First undefeated regular season in years.
Section 3 D1 - Cicero-North Syracuse (19-0) ***Notable wins - Defeated Fayetteville-Manlius, Oswego, and Baldwinsville twice. First undefeated regular season in school history. Defeated Penfield (25-20, 19-25, 24-26, 25-12, 16-14). Won Williamsville South tournament without dropping a set.
Section 5 D1 - McQuaid Jesuit (16-0) ***Notable wins - Defeated Fairport in 4, and two wins over Victor. Played a pretty weak regular season schedule, and haven't played many teams capable of playing at the state level (tournament or regular season). Champions at Eden Tournament without dropping a set.
Section 6 D2 - Grand Island (16-0) ***Notable wins - Defeated West Seneca West (25-23, 25-13, 25-9). Won twice over Lockport. The winner of Section VI D2 will likely play Churchville-Chili for the regional title, and the winner of that match should win the state championship for D2. Champions at both the Clarence and Orchard Park tournaments.
Section 8 D1/D2 - Oceanside (16-0, D1) and Clarke (16-0, D2) ***The undefeated records here aren't very impressive, considering the season format that Section VIII uses. Section 8 uses a promotion/relegation system to determine seeding for sectionals, meaning that Clarke is in the third tier of D2 schools and Oceanside is in the 2nd tier of D1 schools. Both teams are the lowest seed in their respective sectional brackets, and until they can pull an upset, should be taken with a grain of salt.
Section 11 D1 - Sachem North (14-0, D1) ***#1 team in the state. Return 6 starters from last year's group that fell just short in the state championship match. Heavy favorites to take the D1 title this year. Notable wins over Eastport-South Manor, Lindenhurst, and Connetquot.

Was able to get up results from 14 of the 17 matches today. All matches were out-bracket/first round matches in Section VI and VIII Division 2, with one match in Section VIII Division 1.
Upset of the day was #12 Cheektowaga taking down #5 Lafayette in Section VI D2 (B).
Two matches tomorrow. Section 1 Divsion 1 Final - Suffern (16-0) vs. Scarsdale (9-6), 8:00pm @ Pace University Section 1 Division 2 Final - Eastchester (8-7) vs. Clarkstown South (4-11), 6:00pm @ Pace University
The real fun gets underway Monday. All sections regardless of division will be down to at least the semifinals by the end of Wednesday night. There are 166 boys volleyball teams in the state (in NYSPHSAA), by Wednesday night we will be down to just 53 (32%).

Section 1 Finals Division 1 - Suffern defeats Scarsdale (3-1; 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-18) Division 2 - Eastchester defeats Clarkstown South (3-0; 25-16, 25-17, 25-15)
Suffern takes their 9th title in the last 12 years. Eastchester will make their 3rd straight state tournament appearance. Both teams have their best teams in program history, and Suffern has a group that will compete at the state level. Suffern is now 17-0 on the season. For the first time ever, I think the Central Region (Sections 1, 2, and 3) may be the deepest region in the state at the Division 1 level. 3 state level teams, all undefeated. Suffern has the best group in Section 1 history.
My take on a top 5 for each division heading into a HUGE week. Suffern has earned that rank. Proved it with a win over Burnt Hills, and cemented it by winning Section 1 in absolutely dominant fashion. They also get the benefit of hosting the regional semifinal vs. Section 2 (D1 and D2). Division 1 Division 2 #1 Sachem North (XI) Grand Island (VI) #2 McQuaid Jesuit (V) Churchville-Chili (V) #3 Suffern (I) Eden (VI) #4 Shenendehowa (II) Burnt Hills (II) #5 CNS (III) West Hampton (XI) HM Penfield, ESM, Lindenhurst Eastchester, Spencerport, West Seneca West

Section 1 FinalsDivision 1 - Suffern defeats Scarsdale (3-1; 22-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-18) Division 2 - Eastchester defeats Clarkstown South (3-0; 25-16, 25-17, 25-15)
Suffern's junior outside Joel Emmanuel had 39 kills in last nights four set title match. Kid is crazy good, 6'4, also a state level high jumper and very good basketball player. Haven't seen anyone out of Section 2 in person except at the BHBL tournament, but from what I saw he is likely the best junior in the state. I would put his approach touch around at 11'6, if not higher. Does not play club. Very raw talent. Their other 6'5 senior outside chipped in 29 kills, and senior right side added 10 more. Rarely use middles. All of their front row players are very raw talents. None of Suffern's players play club and likely struggle to get recruited or go under the radar as a result, so if any local coaches on this forum would like to get out and see them, their matchup vs. the Section 2 D1 Champion on Friday, November 15th will be a fun one. Likely taking on a very talented and undefeated Shen team (or Bethlehem/Columbia), and the match is at Suffern HS @ 7pm, which is right on the NY/NJ border. About an hour from NYC, and nearly exactly 2 hours from South Jersey/Philly. All of Suffern's front row players are very raw talents, with the exception of 1-2 starters. Burnt Hills (pending a win over an 0-16 team) will also be taking on Eastchester at 5:00pm at the same location in the Division 2 game.

Tonight's matches are up. All four quarterfinals are updated for these brackets. Some exact set scores couldn't be found, will publish them if they appear in the papers/media later tonight or tomorrow. Section 2 Division 1 Section 5 Division 2 (A) Section 5 Division 2 (B) Section 11 Division 1
In section 5, two quarterfinals down with McQuaid and Fairport advancing with easy wins, Victor and Penfield play their respective semifinals tomorrow, and are the favorites to take the other 2 spots. A Penfield win over Rush-Henrietta sets up a HUGE rivalry match with Penfield and McQuaid, even though they stopped scheduling each other during the regular season (for reasons I can only assume).
Upset of the day was #7 Smithtown West taking down #2 Eastport-South Manor in straight sets in Section XI D2. Should clear the way for Sachem North to make states, although Lindenhurst could challenge them.
Biggest games of the day will be all of the matches in Section VI. Massive day for Western NY volleyball. No other section plays all 4 quarterfinals for both divisions on the same day, nonetheless the 3 sets of quarterfinals that Section VI plays on the same day.
Tomorrow... Section 5 D1 Quarterfinals (2 of 4 matches) Section 5 D2 (B) Quarterfinals (1 of 4 matches) Section 6 D1 Quarterfinals Section 6 D2 (A) Quarterfinals Section 6 D2 (B) Quarterfinals Section 8 D1 Quarterfinals

Eastport was the team that had a decent chance to knock them off, don't think Sachem will even drop a set in between now and states. Suffolk is very deep this year, and wouldn't be surprised to see the #7 seed Smithtown in the county finals.

Still waiting for some results and scores to come in, but the majority of today's matches are now updated. Action tonight in .... Section 5 D1 Quarterfinals (2 of 4) Section 5 D2 (B) Quarterfinals (1 of 4) Section 6 D1 Quarterfinals Section 6 D2 (A) Quarterfinals Section 6 D2 (B) Quarterfinals
Story of the night is the massive upset Rush-Henrietta pulled over NYS #4 Penfield in the Section 5 D1 Quarterfinals tonight. R-H won in 5, 28-30, 25-21, 35-33, 23-25, 15-13, in a match that lasted 2.5 hours. Penfield won both regular season matchups in convincing sweeps. First time Penfield has failed to make the semifinals in ages. Victor cruised in their quarterfinal match against Webster. McQuaid will take on Rush-Henrietta and it'll be Fairport vs. Victor on Saturday night. This should open the door for McQuaid to take home Section V, as Penfield was likely their toughest competition, and had won a division with Fairport and Victor (seeding dropped due to a tough out of conference schedule and wacky seeding formula).
In Section 6, no major upsets that will affect the state picture, but in D1 #6 Lancaster knocked off #3 Lockport in 5 (25-17, 27-29, 25-17, 15-25, 15-12) and in D2 (A), #7 Kenmore West knocked out #2 Hutch Tech in 4 (25-13, 17-25, 25-14, 25-14). The Kenmore win looks much more like a result of Kenmore playing a significantly tougher regular season schedule, and having their seeding negatively affected. Wins by undefeated and #1 Grand Island and #4 West Seneca West set up a showdown in the D2 (A) semifinals on Saturday. Grand Island won the regular season meeting handily.
In tomorrow's matches of the day, Section 2 will have their most competitive semifinal matches in years, perhaps the most competitive since the state recognized boys volleyball. #1 Shen will take on #5 Saratoga Springs, a very athletic team with some talented hitters. It's a match that Shen should win with their serve-receive and defense. In the other semifinal #2 Bethlehem takes on #3 Columbia in a match that could very well go the distance. Bethlehem took the regular season meeting in 4, and Columbia swept Bethlehem in the finals of the Bethlehem home tournament. All sets between the two teams have seen both teams go into the 20's this season.

Penfield vs Rush was wild, whoever earlier said someone was the best junior in the state is a clown, Rush's primary hitter is a junior and insane, plays A1 and should be able to pick almost any D1 college of his choosing to play at.
