My first year in college my roomate was a Jewish guy from Long Island. My second year it was a guy named Euclid who was the son of a professor. The next two years my roommate was my girlfriend, which was an entirely different sort of learning experience.

I had three roommates my freshman year. Got a two bedroom "suite" in one of the original buildings. Was going to live with two of these roommates my sophomore year, but one got his girlfriend pregnant and lived off campus. He's doing quite well now...worked and studied and did real well. So happy for him!
My college orientation roommate tried to kill himself senior year. Nice kid, but talked a lot. I actually fell asleep while he was talking to me during orientation one night (I was really exhausted from doing all the orientation stuff that day, couldn't stay awake). Turned out in the four years throughout college, he was still quite the loner. Senior year he went to a nearby tower and jumped...didn't die but was in critical condition past graduation. Felt bad for him...like I said he talked a lot but didn't think he deserved to be shunned. I never really saw him after orientation, bumped into him a few times and that was it.

I'm not going to say much here because a) I'm posting under my real name, and b) Euclid was actually his real name too. (I get your joke.) Imagine what your life might have been like if you were born when your dad was in his 60s, your mom was in her 40s, and you were named Euclid.

My second year it was a guy named Euclid who was the son of a professor. Mine too...well, son of a professor but not named Euclid. Yeah, he was a geek, but so were all of us. Skinny as a stick wearing glasses, but the kid was really strong. Roomed with him for 3 years, and he was my roomie our Senior year. Had to put up with my snoring. He loved Sid Meir's Civilization, though. Blamed be for getting him hooked.
