With Chase out of the picture, who's left for Reid? Stafford? Reunion with Jeremy for domestic purposes?

He still has Olympics aspirations.

Theo is the best available absent a sudden recommitment by Doherty to training and probably even then. No one else has the points to get into the FIVB events Reid needs to play and is better than Theo.
Not sure how that partnership broke up, but a little groveling may be in order

I assume he’s put in a call to Stafford and is waiting on that decision. Probably a bunch of other players waiting for that domino to fall also. Not really many other options after that with FIVB points.

Can someone use individual FIVB points for the olympic race? Or do they need to be aquired as a team? If so Reid would start at zero again and that would open the option of partnering with Brian Cook. Maybe he wants to give it a shot before switching to Taylor after the olympics.

^ Olympic Qualifying Points are earned indivisibly as a team. Cannot split the points and take half to a new partner.

Yes, Olympic qualifying points are earned as a team, but specific teams don't technically qualify for the Olympics. They only earn a spot for their country's federation, and ultiamtely the federation decides who gets to go to the Olympics. That being said, I think it's pretty traditional that the team that earns the spot gets to go, but in theory the USAV could send Phil/Taylor if they wanted (and were able to force those two to agree) instead of one of the teams that eventually qualifies.

The FIVB points he has remains and he can play with whoever he wants internationally. But if they want to qualify, then they need to play in at least 12 together and be top 17 in the world.

I'd think Casebeer or Stafford. The only wildcards with upside are Lotman or Cook.

He can play with anyone he wants but realistically if he went to someone like Chase or Cook he probably wouldnt have the points for many events and in others would have to wade through 2-3 CQ matches plus 2 Q matches, which means he maybe gets into one of two events (and I think that may be optimistic)

yea that's brutal but to be honest that is the international scene at the moment. Establishing yourself is no joke and Cook has no points to speak of. That said, maybe Taylor knows things that we dont?

I've always been a Cook fan but I'm taking Chase over Brian any and every day.

That said, maybe Taylor knows things that we dont? He must because in his most recent incarnation - post injury - he looks like a solid player and nothing more. Probably a better athlete than guys like Theo or Ryan but also smaller. Of course thats coming off severe injuries etc. but watching Field or even Budinger the physical potential for greatness is apparent, with Cook, not nearly as clear.

I've always been a Cook fan but I'm taking Chase over Brian any and every day. While both professionals in their respected "best" sports, Chase is by far and away the better athlete, with a higher ceiling, and healthier body. He will be in year three of full time beach, who even knows where his limit is.

I would throw David Lee in there as well.. but Lotman is my pick. I would think that would be easy call for Reid since he played indoor with him. May depend on who is available to practice in the SoCal area.. isn't Lotman still playing overseas...
