While I agree that BYU's home-court advantage is not what it was last year, I don't think BYU has really played "poorly" this year at all. I suppose if the standard is last year's team, then sure. But they have four losses, all to good teams. They're a good team. I think trying to hold them to the standard of perhaps the best team in school history is just not realistic, considering the losses to graduation. Anyway, we'll see what happens tonight. Utah is a good team and they have also played poorly this year. Just because I said BYU played poorly doesn't mean I think they aren't a good team. I just don't think they are as good as perhaps you or others do. They've worked hard to get better, but I'm not sure they've gotten better as a whole. They've had some amazing performances against other good teams, and they've looked pretty sloppy and lackluster against others. I'm not judging them against last year's team. I'm judging them against the standard of what I consider good volleyball. Still they've managed to win even when they've played poorly. I thought they might not even make the tournament after watching them at the beginning of the season. They have done very well considering some very glaring weaknesses. Just because I thought they were the 3rd-best team last night doesn't mean I think they will lose to Utah tonight. I want them to win. I just think it will be very, very difficult, and home court advantage will have little to do with the outcome. Fair enough. I'm not really sure how good you think I think they are. I've maintained all year that the Sweet 16 would be a good result, and I still feel that way. Utah definitely could win this match. As you said, they're a good team (and I wouldn't necessarily be any more confident against Illinois). But if they do, that won't really change my opinion that BYU was a good team this year and had a good season, considering their overall talent and experience level (to be fair, judging by this most recent comment, it doesn't sound like you would disagree with that assessment). I do agree that they've looked inconsistent at times, far more than they did last year. But to their credit, they've done about as well record-wise as I could have expected them to at this point in the season (after seeing San Diego take apart Washington State pretty easily, I feel better about those matches than I did at the time).

Yeah, I don't think we're that far apart. It really has been a very successful season.

How did Marquette escape Wisconsin and Creighton escape Nebraska in the post season but Utah still has to go to BYU? Ugh

Utes are just giving it to BYU. Drews and Koerber are just too much right now for BYU.

How did Marquette escape Wisconsin and Creighton escape Nebraska in the post season but Utah still has to go to BYU? Ugh Because the NCAA is cheap. Really tough draw for a Utes team that I think was clearly one of the top 16 teams. To their credit, they still are in good shape to advance at this point.
