Why are the announcers trying to explain to explain what a topspin serve is in baseball terms? This is a livestream, not a televised game. Anyone watching had to seek this game out and is not a casual viewer that needs this kind of stuff (poorly) explained to them. I dunno, who throws a straight fastball anyway?

Goodbye BYU. Utah sweeps. Not the best team to be facing next week. At least they don't have Adora Anae... she was frighteningly good.

Card prevail 3-0, winning set 3 25-17. Stanford will face Utah. Penn State will face Cincinnati.

Utah is surging. I think they win It'll be interesting given that they almost lost to Illinois, but steamrolled BYU. Stanford has two wins with and without Plummer and both of these teams know each other. Will be fun, I just wish Utah was beating up on another team lol

A sense of deja vu, as Stanford and Plummer roll again, just like last night vs. Denver. One minor difference is that Stanford got out of the gate better and Poly never had a shot in set one. Set two was a little tighter, but Stanford just took over about two thirds of the way through and ran off strings of unanswered points. Set three was very competitive, but again CP crumbled once Stanford hit about 18. I guess they could only absorb so many body blows before the stronger puncher floored them.

Anybody want to talk about post-match traffic control? I'm really happy they are doing some, especially managing the traffic exiting the parking garage (which I have been avoiding lately). But I don't understand closing the exit from the Maples lot at the western corner, forcing everyone to exit via Bonair Siding. (Making it right-turn only there would make sense.) Especially since the cross traffic on Campus Drive does not have a stop sign at Bonair; and you are now forced to turn right there. I mean, there was a traffic control person stationed at the west exit anyway. They could have managed the traffic for the sake of pedestrians.

The plus, is that they are flushing the traffic out of the garage MUCH faster with the traffic control. When they block everything off, like they did today, I just take Bonair all the way out to El Camino. I'm not sure when they opened that up (2 months ago?).

Maybe the Utes have a shot against Stanford, but they better be a whole bunch better than they were in their last meetups. In the 3-2 loss, Stanford was missing a sort of important wheel--Plummer, and Kipp, in her place, hit nearly zero. In addition, Utah was only in that match because they blocked really well and repeated their blocking in the rematch in the mountains. Plummer had 24 kills. Nah, I don't see anything changing next week. Am I missing something?

Plummer being out might have been the best thing for this team...they learned how to play and win points and matches without always relying on her and also gave her much needed rest (and working on her serve which has improved dramatically)..Stanford rolling right now and "seen" as weaker than last year...no problem as TX almost lost last night, PITT just lost, MINN and NEB both in dogfights right now, BYU losing to UT(!)... I agree. The big change I saw was that while McClure did not get consistently more terminal on o-o-s balls, the defense picked up so much that it was just a matter of waiting for the chance to be in system where McClure thrives. Also noticed a play last night on a long rally where every hitter had a chance before KP finished it off with a back row attack. We seem much scrappier defensively and is it possible Hentz is somehow feeling better? Her play seems at a much higher level than earlier in the season.

Yes, that's been part of the detour for the (temporarily) closed section of Serra for a few months. If I had parked toward the back of the lot I might have thought of doing that, too.
