What a great read. I was fortunate to by-chance sit directly in front of Kevin at a Stanford away game and can confirm that the Plummers are as humble/pleasant in person as he comes off in this article.

“Kathryn will walk with her class in June 2020. Some traditions of her senior year will be missed as she prepares for destinations unknown to continue her volleyball career. There is unfinished business for her and her teammates. Why not bring a third home to the Farm? For greatness. ”
Not only I am hoping for a 3rd Natty in her 4 years at Stanford but also to continue her volleyball career - both for the Club and NT.
I feel like there will be good teams in Europe where KP can get the much needed experience and prepare her for the future.
For this I am grateful.

So, Christopher is her adopted father? This is quite a revelation!

I am amazed at the part where Kevin would travel between practices in Orange County, and LA County Beaches so that Kathryn could pursue both Beach and Indoor. I am familiar with the midweek practice and weekend travel for one sport, but for two sports?

Very interesting read and they seem like a great family. I was struck by how fortunate Plummer is, not only with size and athleticism, but also opportunity. Volleyball is a sport that, more so than many others, tends to favor the affluent. That was reinforced to me as I read this. This article details all the travel and the parent involvement getting her to indoor and beach practices and competitions all over...these are components of the volleyball scene that put club participation out of reach for a very large portion of young athletes. How do we improve accessibility for them? Ah, but that’s a different thread for a different day. Not saying that to take away at all from the truly remarkable accomplishments of KP. Kudos to her parents for their unselfish support of their children’s dreams.

I’m assuming Plummer will be one of the most desirable new American players on the club scene in quite some time.
I can also assume she’s attract some fairly high club offers money wise?

^ why not, she would be a dream Opposite, and backup setter in a pinch. However since there is more money in being a terminal OH, I would expect that would be her first contract.

If you would've told me in 2015 that Plummer was going to be a 2 time NPOY (should've been 3 time if Hambly wasn't playing around lolol jkjk) and First Team AA as a 6-rotation OH, I don't know what I'd say. Such an incredible player and journey, I hope there's so much more to come

In a perfect world there'd be some sort of club scholarship fund for promising athletes who arent as well off financially but have D1 potential. Especially considering how volleyball relies more heavily on raw athleticism than a lot of sports.
