I hope there’s some changes on the coaching staff Miss ya Salima! And just to taunt everybody, ESPN sent her to Gregory Gym this weekend.

Still tons of talent on the roster despite the disappointing finish. On the plus side, another highly recruited DS and a highly recruited setter will help provide competition and depth in those areas. Guessing the lineup will be:
Eggleston and Fields as OH. Eggleston 6 rotations, not sure about Fields.
Butler and O'Neal in the middle
Phillips on the right
Gabriel sets
Peterson libero, Iosia DS
Setter spot should be very competitive. I think a lot of fans want a change from Gabriel after the rough Louisville outing but Jhenna set the team to .325 on the year and was quite good most of the season IMO. A 6-2 is another option with Williams on the roster. Lots of options. I think Texas once again will be top 3 or top 4 preseason. Question is will the senior class (which is now just Shook, if she stays) finally make a Final Four?

And just to taunt everybody, ESPN sent her to Gregory Gym this weekend. Shes not coming back to coaching. She stepped away for reason. She was being groomed to take over at psu was getting head coach pay and they even made a special title just for her. If she wanted to coach she wouldn’t have stepped away there. Lol. Texas has better chance on bell taking over then Rockwell in my opinion. Haha

I can see Jerritt trying to run a 6-2 with this team if Parra ends up on campus. He always seems like he wants to do it but never quite has enough to do it. This year he will have all the pieces to try.
Will be interesting to watch the libero battle. Setter is also a position to watch if they don't go with a two setter set. I just think there is no way they can continue to have Jhenna play if the front row.

Also pins still seem thin with Williams recovering from ACL injury. Although Fields could play OH if needed.

Butler and O'Neal Phillips in the middle
Phillips O'Neal on the right
Phillips has the high volleyball IQ when in the middle. But noticed that her arm wasn't as strong attacking from the right as O'Neal on the slides
Gabriel Cabello sets
Peterson Iosia libero, Iosia Petersen DS
Having seen a year and a half of Gabriel and two years of Petersen, I would like other options

Texas roster seems pretty small Depth wise.
Four OH's seems quite small, Granted they are Four OH who can all make an immediate impact it seems like. Im assuming one of the three setters isn't on scholarship, and if they all are, one will transfer so Jerrit can get another hitter.

We have a great roster for 2020 that will be similar to Nebraska's this year in terms of having no seniors with significant playing time, meaning 2021 could be even better. I know our team will continue to compete for the big 12 and national titles and I'm excited for the future!
I'm actually hoping Fields will stay on the right considering how well she did this year, and Melanie will fill in at the second OH position assuming everything works out with her coming here, but I could also see the above lineups as well with one of the MBs or even Williams on the ride side. I could also see Williams possibly redshirting as she rehabs from her injury. Unless injuries to other players force her into the lineup. Setter and Libero should be interesting as I think both positions will be a battle in the gym especially with Cabello enrolling early. We're stacked with three really good MBs too. Logan is such a natural leader (she was a captain this year over Micaya!) I feel that she'll truly motivate the team to learn from this disappointing end to the season and push even harder next year.
Side note, I'm also enjoying becoming more active on the Texas VT community, despite the negativity on this website there is a lot of good here too! Hook 'em!

The guess is that Jhenna wasn't on scholarship, but was awarded due to her playing time.
But, all a guess.
BTW, I was at the Texas-Baylor rematch in Waco and was astonished to see 20 players lined up on the Baylor side. Two of them were in sweats and obviously not playing. But it boggled the mind that they had that many walk-ons. And it's not cheap there!

The Libero position is really interesting in Texas. One thing that stood out to me in the matches yesterday was the amount of athleticism on display at the Libero position. I just haven't seen that out of Petersen her range is limited and she never seems to make those kind of WOW defensive plays. From what I've seen of Iosia she does have more athleticism but the prospect of a true freshman to coming in and beating out an established starter is rare. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out. Iosia definitely has more upside but it's a risk to trust a Frosh in that position. Of course if Nalani comes in and struggles, Petersen will keep the job by default and, again, I think that'll limit what - in all other positions - looks like the most talented team in the nation.
