I want to form a committee whose sole responsibility is to select the 2020 All-VolleyTalk Award winners, including Poster of the Year, 1st team, 2nd team, and Honorable Mention, as well as the All-Rookie team and the Rookie of the Year.1 If you are interested in being a member of this committee, please PM me with info on why you're ideally qualified to be a member.
This is an experiment. I want to gauge its viability for future awards. But I need to test it out to see whether it will work, how it will work, and discover hidden issues. We currently have 26 members.
Eligibility requirements of committee members
1. You PROMISE to make a good faith effort to read most of the threads on VT. The emphasis is on "good faith" and "most." No one ever reads ALL the threads or ALL the posts. I do not expect you to devote all your time on this board. You simply have to be familiar with most of the important things that occur on this board and its members.
2. I need members who are familiar with their respective favorite conferences and their teams. Ideally, I'd like someone from each of the PAC12, B1G, SEC, ACC, etc. Why is this important? It's the best way for ME to get a good cross-section of the volleyball nation and the best way for YOU to get to know the VT members who are fans of that conference and its teams -- what they post, the quality of their posts, etc.
3. I need members who will be fair and uncorruptible.
4. If you are selected to this committee, you will NOT be eligible for any of the awards. This must make sense to you, right? Imagine a committee made up of John, Harry, Peggy, Wynona, Rupert, and Doris. Let's say this committee came up with the following All-VT 1st team: John, Harry, Peggy, Wynona, Rupert, and Doris. Fishy, right?
5. If you have multiple accounts here on VolleyTalk, only ONE (1) of your accounts will be eligible for membership. I'm going to check with the forum's mods for this info.
Job responsibility
1. Simple. Just read the threads and get familiar with the members. You do this on your own. You're an adult. You don't need me to hold your hand. We won't have meetings or anything like that. I may occasionally PM you to stave off loneliness.
2. Sometime in November/December 2020, I'll give you advance notice about the All-VT Awards including a deadline. You'll give me your respective ballot of the All-VT POY, 1st team, 2nd team, and HM by this deadline. The ballot will use a flex voting system. I'll describe this in greater detail later but essentially, I'm going to give you a BOUNDED RANGE of POINTS for each of the 1st, 2nd, and HM teams, and you decide how many points to allocate for each member. The range of points is NOT unbounded.
3. I have not decided on how nominations will work. Do the VT members decide? Does the committee decide? We will vote on this internally among all committee members sometime in the summer.
Also, I myself will not vote. I'll simply be the administrator who'll make sure this thing runs smoothly.

1 There's a chance that I'll pass this off to someone else. However, with this committee, I could possibly run this thing for another year. Let's see how it goes.
