why are a lot of coaches being let go? Because it is the end of the season, which seems to be a convenient time to make a coaching change.

Eh...just get Nicole Vargas or Nicky Cannon, the two most responsible for Cal State Fullerton's "emergence." Brent Hilliard? Long time asst at USD.

Is it really? Where does it rank in terms of jobs in S California or California? As an academic institution, athletic dept, or campus? You’re going to get tier 2-3 in state div 1 talent, and not get top kids from Midwest, South or East either. It’s an OK job IMO The basketball team is currently ranked #15 in the nation by AP apnews.com/APTop25CollegeBasketballPollIf they can recruit basketball, they can recruit volleyball if they hire the right coach. I would approach Mick Haley. Terrible analogy. Men’s basketball players and women’s volleyball players could t be more different in terms of what they look for in schools.

Truth is SDSU has not lived up to its potential and appeal.

Truth is SDSU has not lived up to its potential and appeal. If they get the right coach it has top 25 written all over it. Athletes will come to the school.

SDSU is not going to compete with the same kids that USD and UCSD (2020 D1) kids. It’s going to be a blend of transfers and recruiting classes of ‘22 and beyond, but SD is not going to be hard to sell. The one glaring problem I see is their conference.

It hasn’t been since Rudy Suwara was roaming the sidelines back in the Jurassic era. Perhaps the new-ish AD will give the program more love than his predecessors, but dude is busy trying to fund a $200 million football stadium, so maybe not.

USC volleyball draws maybe 500+ a match and that includes the band and students who get in free. UCLA and Stanford bring in 2,500 Volleyball does not draw in the southland of California

He has been happy in his current spot for a long time. SDSU has not been a top tier job in the past, and as someone stated above, I think they will very quickly be number 3 in town. If he hasn't left yet I don't see him leaving for that job. If the only thing stopping him from taking other jobs was not wanting to leave San Diego, it's a possibility.

If the only thing stopping him from taking other jobs was not wanting to leave San Diego, it's a possibility. They show no signs of potential to be a top tier program. Why would he move down the street to compete head to head with his partner the last 18 years or so, at s school that historically can't compete? Throw in the fact that UCSD comes online next year and is instantly more desirable, and it is a non-starter for him. I can't believe that they have the kind of cash or resources to make a mediocre job worth the move. You are talking about a school that has 1 D1 championship in their entire history and they cut that program. Think you both are right, this job should not be that desirable for Hilliard, BUT it's in San Diego so that means something. Hilliard is a competitive guy and maybe he thinks he could start something special there. I would be surprised if he was the HC but I do think it's possible because it doesn't require a move for the family.
