So, you post that you don't like folks throwing out far-fetched suggestions, but you won't offer any names of your own? I don't mind far-fetched guesses, but use some logic. There have been a lot of posts in here giving good potential information and half the posters have jumped off the deep end without critical thought. And @bigwestfan2 is right, I have a bit more insight than most on who is on the big list and who is on the short-list. Well, I think it's great that you know inside stuff; and, have decided to share none of it. You have no obligation to share an iota.
But, your posts like below add zero to the discussion. Great chat.
"Boy, people are getting desperate for information. Because some of the names being thrown out are way out of left field..."

It will probably be another week or two before we hear who the new coach is. I just hope, from a Stanford perspective, that she/he is more entertaining than Crouch. I sort of miss the old days when Mick would rag the refs and we would rag Mick for disrespecting the refs.

With Keegan as her assistant Nah, Keegan is just getting another pay raise at UW. Does Crouch get a cut from Keegan's raise?

Well, that $700,000 or so annual pay cut might be a hindrance.

How about giving us some names that are a little closer to the batter's box. Well a few logical considerations: Given that USC is still in arbitration with Mick, and how messy the time with Crouch was, it would be hard to bring anyone from those previous staffs back (which is unfortunate, because I think Jason Kennedy would be an excellent option). They can't afford to wait for Karch or go interim, especially with the looming recruiting season. They need a staff in place within the next two weeks. A few feeler calls have already happened. The rest should be happening from today until the end of the week. So, we looking at an Assistant from a big school, a mid-major head coach, or (as GeddyLee said was expected to happen last time, but didn't) are they going "big-game hunting"?

Please forgive my ignorance, but I was wondering how the hiring process goes when you have donors contributing to the salary. Are they directly involved or just consulted when a candidate shows promise? Are they contributing directly to the coach's salary or are they just making donations to the athletic department? Is it important to them that the candidates have a tie to the program? Just curious as to how this all works...

My understanding is that the donors make donations to the athletic department for the specific purpose of helping to pay the coach's salary. I'm pretty sure donors aren't paying the coach directly. As for how involved they are, that would probably depend on the school, the AD and the donors. And I would imagine that most donors just want to hire the best possible coach. A tie to the program may be a bonus, but lacking one wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Scott Wong from Pepperdine? You are correct. Scott Wong is currently the coach at Pepperdine.
