Hello Players, Fans, and bitter old men who still like sideout scoring :/, die-hard Kerri WJ fanatics, and the tech-savvy 16-year-olds who-probably-will-provide-99%-of-the-links-I-want,
I'm making a Youtube playlist of high-quality FIVB/AVP volleyball to analyze kill locations on the court. If you know of any 3-set match FOOTAGE (please don't share results or a picture of a bracket), please reply here with a direct link. Footage can be from Youtube, Amazon Prime, or other channels for FIVB as long as the link will allow me to view from the US.
Since the top players bait each other into thinking they have a shot that will earn them a kill, the first two sets in a match can be deceptive for stats. For instance, Todd Rogers used to let a few shots drop early in a match, sacrificing unimportant points. THEN, like the professor he is, he would know his opponent's tendency when the pressure is on in the third set. THUS, shots that get kills in the early games don't truly reflect point-worthy offense. I know this "carrot-dangling" psychological strategy also plays out in the 3rd set, but my hope is the data shows it is much less common. I also want to analyze how American offense differs from international players. "American angles" seem to be working domestically, but not so much against international teams- who seem to swing deep as opposed to an American tendency to hit more of a downward trajectory.
I hope to build a playlist of the highest level men's and women's beach volleyball in the most crucial points- the 3rd set. I'll most likely trim the match footage to only include the 3rd set, in order to simplify data analysis. I'll link to the original video to give credit, obviously. I may mute the footage since I've run into unintentional music copyright issues with audio in the past.
Footage Requirements:
1) Must include full 3rd set
2) Must include view of the full court (some homemade videos cut off the corners of the court because they are too close to the endline)
3) Must be after 2010
If you'd like to contribute by providing any links, I'd appreciate it...plus you'll have easy access to the best, most competitive part of beach volleyball.
