Nothing personal against this guy, don't even know him. But sucks for anyone out there who applied for this job that had, you know, ACTUAL college coaching experience. In today's world of the massive growth of beach volleyball, that includes coaches as well as players. Some schools are just hiring an indoor coach to be the beach coach, which I can somewhat stomach, because they have experience recruiting and knowledge of how to work in a college atmosphere. But NO real college playing experience, NO experience coaching in college of any kind, and you land a D1 head job; and it's not even under the tutelage of an experienced coach, they're separating it...so it's alllll his. www.roarlions.com/news/2022/12/28/beach-volleyball-vandeperee-hired-as-una-beach-volleyball-coach.aspx

Made the most out the situation at Liberty and treated it like a varsity program. And it’s not like there are tons of experienced college beach coaches at this point, to have many looking for other jobs.

At all. He’s run a successful club in VA that has dealt with the recruiting process to schools like Pepperdine and South Carolina. His program at liberty has beaten D1 opponents before, he has a budget, scholarships, and sure as heck has been out recruiting including at Hyden Beach last summer with Thais who looks like will stay on at UNA and UAB, EKu, and Coastal Carolina.

There were 2 openings on here; the one in KS and the one in Idaho...both NAIA I believe. Don't know I've heard of any other NCAA head coach openings.

I’m always surprised at how few relative changes there are. When you see what a dramatic change some hirings can make such as TCU a few years ago and what Washington will soon do it doesn’t make sense to me how some colleges are good with staying stagnant. How can programs like Georgia State, Stetson and Grand Canyon be so successful while what seems to be more appealing schools like South Carolina, Arizona State and Oregon just muddle in mediocrity year after year?

South Carolina is a bit puzzling. I have to imagine they are funded as well if not better than everyone but FSU in the east. I did hear something about Stetson having some sort of loophole when it comes to international students. Like they get free or significantly discounted tuition. Don’t know firsthand though. But with the amount of internationals they have, there may be some validity to it.
