Just back from UCF. Here's brief rundown. I'll answer any questions. FL down 19-11 in set one, win it 26-24. Win set two 25-23 and set three 25-22. Set 4 was played. I stayed til 10-10, then left to beat the traffic. Eleven players dressed. Ten played in each set. Only one left out was one of the middles. Thomas sat out set one, Essix set two and Rothe, set three. Random observations: Isabel Martin is an AC clone, undersized but a battler. Neither one flourished but both contributed. Canaan the libero for sets 1 and 2. McKissock for sets 3 and 4. The long service run in set one that let us catch up was McKissock. Kennedy Martin was a beast, but her hitting percentage was probably not very good. HGit a lot out. Freshman setter Parks played well, consistent and involved. Of the three middles I'd give Alex the nod as number 1, Amaya as 2 and Gabrielle as 3. I thought serve receive and overall defense was excellent. What else would you like to know?

Triinity played in all four sets as a defensive specialist. Nothing noteworthy, but no big mistakes either. Sometimes that's all you need from a DS.

Also should add, No sign of a 6 rotation OH. That's going to have to come from Hutson or Harden.

Someone asked, "so, we'll be alright for next year?" We'll be alright, we could be fabulous if Stucky can play, if Hutson can play, if Harden turns out to be a beast at OH, and Auguste is the real deal ( I saw her play in the Under Armour all-star match and she is electric) Defensively we'll be fine. Here's my wishful opening day lineup. OH Hutson and Harden (never saw her play, but if she's starting that means good things), MB Rothe and Auguste, Opp K. Martin and S Stucky. There is a plethora of DS/L candidates. McKissock and Canaan will share the bulk of the defensive burden

No, but she was certainly ineffective v. UCF. Jury's still out and of course, I haven't seen her with Stucky. That could be a game changer.

Florida v. Miami at 11:00AM today at Vero Beach High School. Hopefully someone was there and can give us a report. Florida won 3 sets, Miami won 1 set. What I saw in a video, Florida will have problems with her OH. Isabel Martin is a good player, but she is short like AC Fitzpatrick. No OH was playing 6 rotations. Taylor Park did a great job setting and in the middle we will be more than ok. They need to work on the passing big time. Too many DS too for my opinion. Kira and Stucky won’t be available to play until at least the middle of the regular season. Go Gators!!!
